Olympics
I know its 6 months off. But Im really excited(mostly cause of Uruguays return) but i love the Olympics as its the only time besides the world cup that Americans pay somewhhat attention to Football.

Anyone who's familuire with the teams have any idea how they're gonna line up?
I take it this will be achance for names like Thiago alcantar Cuenca Canales and the like to show what theyure made of.

Re: Olympics
The Olympics will a complicated thing and how they play out interests me a ton. Coaches will have to balance their desires, development or victory.
For example, a couple of the US's players eligible for the U-23's (Jozy Altidore, Timmy Chandler, Brek Shea, etc.) are already regularly on the call sheet for the senior internationals. So...bring them and enhance our chances of winning or let them rest and let some youngsters get the experience?
Should be fun.

Re: Olympics
Im curious to see how the GB team will perform. Bale, Ramsey, Oxlade Chamberlain, and Kyle walker , with one of Carrol, Welback or Sturridge as the striker is a given . Curious to see how that team will perform against other big name teams

Re: Olympics
But the Olympics are played after the euro,so I think that players like gotze and reus who will stay most of the tourney on the bench will get to play in London

Re: Olympics
GB have a nasty team, mainly bale.Spain individualistically aren't great but if they play possession football like in the u 20 wc and euro,it will be tough to beat them.it will be interesting to see brazil because well go with basically our senior team without 4 starters

Nevermind, Stuart Pearce said that.
So no Kyle Walker or Sturridge, I presume.

Re: Olympics
Uruguays will probably line up like this
__________Cubero
Gunino_____Coates__Cabrera__Poleta
Lodeiro____Piriz__Albin_____Ramirez
_________Abel___ Texiera
Bench: Urreta, Tabre Viudez, Adrian Luna, Jean Pierre Barrientos. Marhias Mier
The two center mid positions look week but Idk who to play there.
Those are u-23
id say the three over three spots will probably be taken by three of
Suarez,Forlan,Muslera,Perez,Caceres, Lugano,Rios, Perez Cavani...
Up front were pretyty solid with david texiera quickly in his firt seaon att groningen and european footgball earning a starting spot ad avg 7 goals an 1 assit in apearances for them. Abel was Uruguays bigget prospect but now it looks like he becoming injury prone, i still believe in him tho. Our wings have Lodeiro and Ramirez and they can play as CAMS, CFS, and ACMS. our cm duo kinda sucks Albin and Piriz are two dcm from nacional and uruguay. Thats maybe whered id slot in rios, perez or gargano. then the back four is pretty solid. Gunino is a nice little prospect,Coates is our futur leader, Cabrera has been loaned all over the place since joining Atletico but hes young so I belive in him and Polenta earns his spot due to his great preformance in the sub-20. id mabe bring caceres for his versatlity
Now our bench kinda sucks :p i dont like urreta, viudez or luna. theyre all ridiculously talented but with no footballing brains. Mier is an average player and Jean Pierre barrientos i have ot seen play i just have him there due to the fact hes actually playing in portugal in his first season thereat 20 years old

Re: Olympics
Yeah, I don't know about that.
We certainly care about lol'ing over everyone else in the medal count and following our phenoms (Phelps in Beijing), but the people who watch and love Olympics football are your standard US MNT supporters. Just from my experience, at least.
