I wish I could recover the rest of this post it was from the old forums......for those of you who remember it from this thread it basically said that the team would be built around Benz, that Ronaldo was destroying Real madrid's team play.......and that if he was sold in a couple years we would vastly improve,and that I think a Di maria , benz , higuain attack is better.

I got a bit of hate....not too much because the Real Madrid section is rational and they saw where I was coming from.

Now we've turned a 180.....apparently there are Bigger Benz fans than me out there and bigger Ronaldo haters.This I didn't think possible.

No I just want people to be fair to the guy and not like all of a sudden he's gone from being the most influential decisive player in the world to utter garbage.

His game has suffered just slightly but not enough to cause a total u turn in people's perception of him.....he was always the player that he is......at least since he came to Real Madrid.......it seems like all of a sudden we're expecting too much from someone who proved to be a very one dimesional player from day 1.

I have actually tweaked my opinion slightly in favor of Ronaldo since then.....I think with the right mentality he could be a huge asset to the team as a CF but if we continue to run the play through him we will always suffer for it.

He really hasn't gone far enough downhill for some of the stuff being posted.

Ronaldo's goals are like 30% penalties, 30% sloppy set-piece defending, and 30% tap-ins. He scores 3-4 free kicks a season after 56968983 attempts.

I use to think you needed Ronaldo's goals to bulldoze through the weaker teams because thats what he is "flat track bully"

But quite frankly i dont see why Benzema or Higuian cant do that if he has scored that small of a total from open play....

I used to think it was insane to even think about dropping him and you were just knee jerking after his poor Clasico display.

But now iam seeing why you want the side to be built around the likes of Benzema etc etc.

Just TO BE CLEAR......me wanting the side to be built around Benzema is not a knock on Ronaldo but a compliment to Benzema.

His overall qualities are those that a side would benifit from being built around.

Ronaldo though, I give many thanks to.......because he has absorbed alot of the pressure that Karim would be burdened with and has allowed him a natural development to the point where he seems ready to take on added responsibility.He wass really fragile at one point in time.

When you give a person a free role you really can't take the blame for them changing their game.It's evident that Ronaldo himself changed his game because he wanted to score more goals don't put that on us.

The free role isn't "you have the liberty to do whatever you want", it's more like "you have the liberty to do whatever you want if it ultimately helps the team out".

I think Gil was talking about his ManU days when he was far, far more collective and if he were ever to try those impossible shots while having a team mate in open space, Ferguson would have ripped him a new one.

Vs 17goals for Benzema from openplay, but with less minutes played [1613 vs 2270 minutes].

Benzema vs Barca this season: 3 matches, 2 goals, 2 assists.
C.Ronaldo vs Barca this season: 3matches, 1goals [not sure if he had a touch on benzema's shot or was it ramos], 0 assists.
