Re: Boardwalk Empire
Haven't watched the latest episode yet, will do so tonight.. My thoughts on the show are that it's good, but not as great as some people make it out to be.. I rarely, if ever, can't wait until the next episode like I do for shows like Dexter and The Wire..
I also hate Margaret though, I sometimes just fast forward her story lines lol

My theory on Owen's death is that Nucky knew about the affair and sent Owen basically on a suicide mission, knowing he would never get close enough to kill Joe Masseria, a tried and true way of getting rid of someone he's betrayed you as well as sending a message to your enemy. The reaction of his wife basically confirmed what he already knew so it will a bit interesting to see how he deals with that.
- Spoiler:
- How do you figure that? He looked surprised by the way she was acting when she saw Owen's body.. Plus it was Owen's idea to go alone, Nucky wanted to send more people but Owen said something along the lines of 'it requires patience, not a lot of men'
I also think Luciano told Massaria about Nucky's plan when he was whispering into his ear, after talking about the heroin

- Nucky has always been a shrewd and cautious man through out this series. It's just not like him to send one guy to do a hit of that magnitude and difficulty. Nucky from season 2 would've sent an entire team to wipe out Masseria, but because I believe he knew about Owen and Margaret's affair, he willingly let Owen do this on his own, knowing it was suicide. Had he truly not known or even suspected the affair, he would've decided against sending him alone. Of that, I'm absolutely sure about.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
- Spoiler:
- The look on his face when Margaret was crying over Owen's dead body, suggests he didn't know what was going on.. Plus he's been more 'gangster' this season, I think he would of just shot Owen himself like he did that young thief a few episodes back

Re: Boardwalk Empire
What a frakking episode ffs
- Spoiler:
- Finally we get to see some Chalky White and boy did he look like a king among men as Nucky came to beg for his help. All my frustration about him not being a central character this season washed away as he confronted Gyp like an absolute bawss.....Michael K. Williams is an absolutely amazing actor.
I totally saw Lucky Luciano getting set up and arrested on that sting. It happened to him in real life like 30 times. He'll be out next episode, but it will be very interesting to see how he fits into the war equation.
And how about Nucky the Gangsta-killer? .Took out 4 dudes with so much ease. Never thought he had that in him. So much respect gained for that as well as deciding to stay in fight and that was before he knew his brother and Capone were showing up at the end.
Capone easily stole the show with basically his only line of the episode - "I've been on the road for 18 hours. I need a bath, some chow, and then you and me sit down, and we talk about who dies."

How hasn't this thread been bumped? The season started off incredibly slow but then it got tantalisingly good out of nowhere lol. MUST WATCH TV for the last 5/6 episodes.

must have been mad men
Boardwalk always delivers with its finale..and it has always been a slow build and GOAT in later episodes throughout every season. Seriously, I think these season finale's are some of the finest TV ever
Jimmy in S2, Harrow in S4. Man dem feels. Next season will be awesome too, set up a bunch of plotlines. Eli and Van Alden will be the GOAT duo under Capone
I'm glad they didn't off Doctor Narcisse, top, top character.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
GOAT TV show ffs
I still miss Jimmy though, was an epic scene when he died but he was my favourite character
I was 100% Sure Eli was getting killed tbh, so surprised he's still alive.
Harrow ffs

Also, does anybody else not care about Chalky?
He's been so ungrateful to Nucky for the whole damn show, needs to bite a bullet.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
The upcoming 5th season of Boardwalk Empire will be its last.

Great to see this show ending on its own terms. It's the right time, I feel as they've told a masterful story.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Do you think Nucky will die with the show too?
This has been a great show but I still see a lot of unfulfilled potential. I thought this would be one of the GOATs after watching the pilot. Still, the show is very good and it always brings a fantastic climax to a season.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Well the real Nucky Thompson, called Enoch Johnson, lived to be 85 years old.
So I think there's a chance Nucky will survive this season.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Mclewis I don't it will be ending on it's own terms..the writer was talking all sorts of plot threads for the future, more gillian etc in interviews after this season ended. I think it just became too expensive for the viewing figures it was pulling in for HBO, personally I'm annoyed because I can see no way things get tied up and resolved nicely. Way too many characters.
Especially if this final season is 8 episodes like the rumours that were going around the last few days of it being the final season and having only 8.

Well I meant that at least they have their own destiny as a show in their hands.
Unlike Carnivale, Deadwood or Rome, which ended up being cancelled despite critical receptions.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Is it really an 8 episoder?
This had potential to go on for ages, it's bad enough it's dying at 5 seasons but 8 fkn episodes smh
Imo too much is gonna happen too soon, a clusterf*ck of important deaths/scenes etc takes away the wow factor of said scenes

More like HBO is forcing them to end it fast because it costs too much and they ahave to fund GOT too.

This season's been pretty good. I'm dissapointed it's only eight episodes long. I don't know how they're going to wrap up all the plot lines. There's so much going on right now.
