I find the "post starting XI of xxx club" nonsense to be especially vapid, personally.
You just can't beat my team.

Some Juve fans have become "world class" comedians this season. Never mind their players.

Could you give a reason why? I don't understand. Is there not meant to be positive energy surrounding an unbeaten side in their new fortress state of the art stadium. If barca came to visit us at the Juventus arena I don't see why not we couldn't give them a run for their moneykiranr wrote:Some Juve fans have become "world class" comedians this season. Re: What would be the ideal 11/dream team to face Barca?
Buffon is no longer #1 keeper in the world, so there's no reason to expect him to fare better against Messi than others at or above his current level.
Trying to out possess Barca is generally a bad idea. They simply have the better players for it.
Vidal's pass rate make look good in a possession based side, but there's no evidence to suggest he could A) make the passes under pressure and with the speed necessary to catch Barca out and B) press Barca's midfield for an entire game without getting into card trouble.
Chiellini and Lich have shown nothing to suggest they would shackle Messi. They simply haven't been up against a player of his considerable talent of late.
ADP is not the player he once was.
Claiming Juve's midfield to be one of the best in the world may be technically correct (when taking into account ALL midfields at club level) but it's certainly little more than an (exaggerated) opinion when compared to the top midfields in the game.
With all do respect to the sides mentioned, none of Napoli, Inter, Lazio, or even arguably Milan are at Barca's level when they click, as they did in the second half against Madrid.
Could Juve make it difficult for Barca? Yes. Would they? I personally don't think so.

Re: What would be the ideal 11/dream team to face Barca?
First may I say half of that is utter rubbish such as the Vidal and Chiellini/lich points made. You probably won't admit it but I reckon you've Hardly watched a juve game this season. Secondly .. What more do you want us to do in order to prove we could match it with the best? We are top of the most competitive league in the world (yes serie a is most competitive.. Something like 4 points separating 9th - 18th.RedOranje wrote:Buffon is no longer #1 keeper in the world, so there's no reason to expect him to fare better against Messi than others at or above his current level.

Buffon is slowly getting back into his best and not to mention you may not notice but he's hardly even forced into any saves.. 11 saves all season was the stat from a few weeks back, not sure what it is now. If Buffon clicks just like you mentioned Barca could... Well after all we are talking of possibly the greatest keeper of all time . The ADP point was just a bit of banter. He is no longer in our starting XI however when he does come on he's more than capable of creating something. You want to see our pressing game? Watch Juve -Parma or Juve-Milan... I mention Parma as it was a 35• degree day and we chased every single ball

Re: What would be the ideal 11/dream team to face Barca?
Any best-11 vs. Barca has to include Schweini. His performance during Argentina - Germany in the WC was one of the greatest performances of all time. Not just offensively, but defensively as well, forced Messi to play as a 6 rather than a 10. If he has a "better" partner than Khedira like Leiva or Alonso...
Wait, now that I think about it, Schweini - Alonso would be the best defensive midfield duo at this point.
As for the 9, I feel that Van Persie is the perfect option for that role. He's by far the most clinical and complete striker at the moment.
I'll have to think about the other positions, but I'm pretty set on Lahm - Sagna as fullbacks and Nesta is still too good to be left out.

Sorry if i came off as rude. I was just exaggerating. I dont deny Juve have the quality to beat Barcelona, but out of 10 times, Barcelona will come out on top most times right now. And Juve can definitely give Barcelona a run for their money. No doubt.
Is it the ideal side though? I dont think so.

Re: What would be the ideal 11/dream team to face Barca?
I think against Barca you need at least 1 quick and agile box to box CM.
Also you need to pressure them all over the pitch, not just when Valdes and the back four have the ball.
When you do have the ball it shouldn't be hoofed away when they pressure. Instead the ball should calmly be passed around just like any other game.

If we progress and meet Barca they can't have their revenge as that team is not there anymore
