Milan close on El Shaarawy

It is reported that Milan are on the verge of snapping up Italy Under-21 talent Stephan El Shaarawy from Genoa.

The 18-year-old playmaker, who has an Egyptian father and Italian mother, declared this week he is a Rossoneri supporter.

It’s believed he could arrive in a co-ownership deal worth €7m plus half of Alexander Merkel’s contract.

Milan and Genoa were already in talks this week after a huge exchange deal regarding Marco Amelia, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Giacomo Beretta, Rodney Strasser, Gianmarco Zigoni and Nnamdi Oduamadi.

It’s suggested the sides could continue this process by handing Merkel over to Genoa for next season while El Shaarawy comes to San Siro.

El Shaarawy spent the current term on loan at Serie B team Padova.
