Borriello will remain at Roma
Tuesday 14 June, 2011
Borriello 'will remain at Roma'
Marco Borriello “will remain a Roma player,” assured director of sport Walter Sabatini after initially casting doubt over his future.
The transfer guru once again ruled out David Pizarro’s move to Napoli, but had been far more open to losing the ex-Milan striker.
“Perhaps some misunderstanding arose around Marco because someone wanted to liberally interpret my words,” noted Sabatini on Radio Kiss Kiss.
“I consider Borriello to be one of the best strikers in Italy and I’m not the only one who says that. I only said he was a ‘problem for Roma’ because he is a great player and nobody can guarantee anyone a regular spot in this team.
“Borriello is an excellent forward and we are keeping a tight hold of him, then we’ll see what happens when we meet and discuss the situation. That will be over the next few days.
“Have Napoli asked me for Borriello? They could consider it, but I wouldn’t recommend they do, because he is a Roma player and will remain a Roma player.”

If we're going to sell both Menez and Vucinic, then Borriello's got to stay. We need some sort of transition, not a whole reconstruction.

Well if we're going to sell Menez and Vucinic we might as well go the whole hog and get rid of Borriello as well..Surely we can put that 10 million to better use..

Borriello could get you 15 goals in a season with adequate playing time
But he's shown (not really this season though) that he could scored 20+

Re: Borriello will remain at Roma
I support the move personally. It wasn't Boriello's fault that Montella benched him and it wasn't his fault that Totti was in such imperious form.
I think he's worth the 10m Milan are asking for and he's gone quite a ways towards paying back that fee with goals.
If we sell both Vuci and Menez and bring another striker and possibly a winger then Boriello will still have a place in this team regardless of what happens this summer.

In 4-3-3 (Luis Enrique) we needs at least 5-6 strikers in team. Currently we have.. umm... Totti. So i dont see anybody except one leaving or we gonna buy lots of strikers.

Re: Borriello will remain at Roma
i have no problem with him staying...he actually scored some crucial goals last season...though he isn't really the quality striker roma need if the team wants to global. the guy is top 8 material or bench at max...not a starter..
