Hmmm, Yes. They shouldn't even be viewed as role models off the pitch.
Sure kids want to aspire to reach their level, but they shouldn't look at them an believe that's how they should model their lives.
There are better role models out there than footballers.

^^^ in my opinion, they shouldn't be role models ON or OFF the pitch.
what is a role model anyways? the most cliche, bullshit expression ever.
We've built ourselves to be on a top of a moral horse, while inside that, it's so empty.

Regardless of your stance on something like that people aren't going to have a very high opinion of a grown man who bites people. Your tune will probably change when he eventually drops Liverpool and moves to a bigger club.

True.
The high life of footballers has them being seen as celebs and its wrong.
Its all fine to admire someone, but wanting to follow them blindly....
It's ridiculous.

Suarez himself doesn't care though.
He plays football to get paid. that's his job. He may do unethical things here and there, but so do 90% of people in the working industry, doctors, lawyers, etc.
Do you really think Suarez cares about a Malaysian United fan in Kuala Lampur cursing him and wishing him death and career-ending injury?
and no, it has nothing to do with Liverpool. I am a flawed genius like Luis myself too, who once bit an opponent in high school football games. so I totally understand him.

If a doctor bit one of his patients, he'd be fired and probably lose his licence

I'm not saying he does or even should. I'm just saying that people are going to hurl abuse at him and he and his supporters should have live with it from now on.

Again not really relevant to people not liking Suarez because he repeatedly acts like a twat.

who brought on the role models thing? I'm just saying that what he did was wrong and I can't believe that you are defending him. Might as well go be a zombie or something.

They do unethical things which go parallel to their career.
Doctors who won't visit patients until fully paid...or give unnecessary subscriptions only because they have a deal with the pharmacist so they split the profit, and many other examples.
If someone from Mars came to GL, he'd assume you are all straight out of Mary's whomb and Jesus' homeboys the way everyone is so ethical and amazing and sin-free in this forum apparently

Come on Lex, in the messed up society we live in today, you know footballers are put up on a pedestal and given more chances than doctors simply because one's on tv every other week.
It shouldn't be like that but society is fcked up.

Well then, scratch my last post cos I don't wanna argue with a Zombie. Good day to you Cheers.
Re: Luiz Suarez
Meh as long as he's banned from our game with Liverpool next week and our chances of getting a 0-0 draw go from 0 percent to 0.1 percent its all good.

You after a bad tackle: Assault plain and simple, should be thrown in jail, absolutely disgusting, scum of the earth, should be banned from football, disgrace to the game/humanity etc

I thought we had established that me/gil's posts are obvious knee-jerk sarcasm satire at times?
I'll make it clear from next time.

Well, footballers don't follow the Hippocratic oath so biting another footballer would only land them, at most, fine and suspension.

Re: Luiz Suarez
I don't think Liverpool should sell him because of this.
If Liverpool don't get into the CL next season, he'll probably leave, considering he'll be 27.

27 is not old MT and there comes a time where a club's reputation and image trumps the player (it should be the case like all the time but such are things anyway).

It's not old, however he'll want to be playing at a CL club in his prime.

Agreed.

It's more amazing that its not the first time.
