well, i think there is no neutral place the match could take place at.. i think there wouldn't be enough fans from both sides.. or maybe too many from one side, and not enough from the other.. you know? with two legs at least you get to play at your own stadium, and the team with the better campaign at the group stage plays the second leg at home (in this case it'll be Santos)..

it is too bad.. but that's how it is for now..

Thanks for the info.

Can anyone give me a bit of a education on Peñarol?

Their style, their key players and how they are playing.

How good is Urreta on Penarol? Does he play? He's on loan from Benfica, and the couple of times I saw him play for us he was pretty good.

There is no doubt that the quality level would've been higher. However, Santos x Peñarol is such a classic, a remake of that awesome 1962 final, just the thought of it is exciting, even if it doesn't become as good technically..

I haven't watched them too much, but they are a defensive team, based on counter-attacks. Their key player is the Argentine, Martinuccio. Perhaps the two Uruguayans from the other forum might go into details if they create an account here Smile

I don't really know much about them besides what I managed to catch of the semi-final legs. Typical counter-attacking team with a very tight defense. Their stars against Velez were the Argentine Martinuccio and the Uruguayan Olivera, on whom their quick counter attacks are built. Won the first leg 1-0 and lost the second one 2-1, but went through on away goals.

Are known to have some of the best fans in the world, they managed to fit 95,000 people in the first leg against Velez in spite of having a stadium capacity of 65,000. Won the first semi-final at home with some ridiculous displays by such fans, who put up a fireworks show before the game.

Thanks you two.

I expect if you are accurate they will have no problem aiming purely to close down the spaces and not allow the obvious, Neymar ownage.

Anyone else with any more will be much appreciated.

Neymar is good when there's not much room to work with, thanks to futsall.. but yeah, they will try.

Hopefully Ganso will be back, and he too has a vision that might open up their defense.

Tonight, we have just beaten Avaí 3-1 for the 3rd round of the Brasileirão.. unfortunately, Danilo got injured, and he was crying because he might miss the final.. and I hope he doesn't, he's an important player for us.

Lol. that's how a football looked back in 1913, when our current shield was created (1 year after the club was founded).

Being humble is the key of success, Peñarol never understimated any team and look where they are. The last Liberators's winner defeated IN BRAZIL, the best Chilean side defeated, the best Argentinian side defeated and we defeated the real best Argentinian side in Argentina. (Godoy Cruz, they were robbed many times and are fighting for the top in Arg).

I don't know what can happen, both teams are good, but Peñarol is always local, if Santos gives 30,000 tickets for sale, 30,000 uruguayans will go Smile

Even thought this Peñarol team has 4 months old, they know eachother really well. They help eachother. The entire team defends, and the entire team attacks, as a proof, i can tell you that 8 of the 10 main starters has scored in this Liberators's cup.
