Let's see how they do it with Storm of Swords which was probably my favourite book.
Disagree. I thought they adapted it really well. A lot of the plots in the book were tightened and they condensed some parts each arc (particularly Arya's) well to make the TV series work. I thought Arya's arc was a testament to excellent screenplay adaption. Worked perfectly .
Of course though... if you're looking for 100% authenticity to the book, S1 was better, but I think its folly to ever expect this from TV/Movie adaptions.
I thought the Dany/Qarth stuff was a bit weak, but I think she can only improve in Season 3 where she actually does interesting stuff.

No, I don't mind about precise adaptation. I just didn't enjoy it much. Pretty much nothing happened for large part of the series. They failed to made interesting the tension build up.

Fair enough. Always tough following up season 1. I agree there were a couple boring filler eps/ parts.
On the whole I thought they did a good job with it, though I get what you mean.

It's fantasy/drama type show. Not based on any real events.

Tom slagging off Victorian Era shows? Pls go lift, brah
Was looking at quite a few pictures of the GoT stars at the opening of the new season. Emilia Clarke looks as stunning with brunette hair as with white hair

Re: Game of Thrones
I think the reason people choose the first season over the second is the sheer amount of veryinteresting characters in it(ned, robert, drogo ffs) and there are some fine bit of action and badassery. But i think the second season was just as good. It had a better story imo and even though there arent many exciting scenes, Arya, Stannis, Jon's stories were exciting. Not to mention Tyrion the Hand

The third season, if done true to the book, should kick some ass.
