The man's a legend
I don't think there has been a player as tall as him that was so technically gifted.

Re: Marco Van Basten
he was "only" 6'2 ? i'd say ibras technique is more impressive in relation to size, he does however lack other things but for a big guy (6'4 i think) he has pretty outrageous technique.

I think probably he just looks it cause he's so skinny/lanky , that said Ibra doesn't even come close to this guy.

Re: Marco Van Basten
Remember watching him for the first time when Ajax played in the European league in the 80s... what a team that was. He just oozed class. Smooth as can be and made the difficult look very easy. He combined it all for a #9: Great air game, great finishing, great acrobatics, great dribbling, great poaching. Some people say R9 was the best striker of the past 30 years. I say it was Van Basten clearly... even compared to the pre-injury R9. R9 was faster; but that's all he had on Marco; nothing else.

I know, but at the same time I really wish I could've seen him more haha.
I love his stepovers, so simple and effortless yet to effective against the defenders. His shooting is like

Re: Marco Van Basten
Actually, you do need to see a lot more than just highlight tapes to know a player. Week in and week out is ridiculous... but at least several full games a year.
I see some of the reviews of players here and i know that nobody has ever seen them play other than watching youtube highlights or reading articles written by reporters... who themselves are way too young to have seen those players lol. It's obvious.
Not being snooty about it. Just being real.

Re: Marco Van Basten
seen him a lot of times on tv to say that he is one of the best strikers to play football, Would have been better then Ronaldo and would be up there with pele had he not retired at 28.
Most complete player ive seen. Right foot, left foot, technique, heading, long range, finishing. He was a supreme striker

Nope you said you cant appreciate someone unless you seem them everyweek ( not exact words but practically what you meant)
Which is complete bs considering everyone wanks over Zidane and Ronaldo here but majority where kids when they was in his prime
So if we can appreciate Zidane's greatness when majority never watched him week in out and just use World Cup nostalgia to argue thier point and Youtube videos......
But its fine and dandy because its Zidane and Ronaldo but if anyone wants to appreciate anyone else its wrong

Re: Marco Van Basten
Don't lie Mole.
Your claimed Laudrup is more consistent and a better player than Zidane based on 15 minutes of youtube videos. My response was in that context only,of course you need more than that to truly appreciate someone greatness and I stand by that as well as other members obviously. And I never specified how much, those are fictional facts from your head.
Whether Laudrup is truly better I don't know because I never properly saw him play and I'll withstand from such claims, unlike you.If you're gonna keep being a baby about it,so be it but I won't be dragged in this ridiculous discussion anymore.

I have never said that........
I just said Zidane was inconsistent( which anyone that watched him consistently from his Juve days onwards would tell you)
I never said Laudrup was more consistent.
Edit: I did say he was better tho which i was trolling i dont know if your aware but = trolling

Also I like to think that he enjoyed his time at Madrid more considering how he left Barca.
Btw the bald headed french man was inconsistent as it got lol
Caught in your own web of lies.Hopefully we can end this here...Or you can try to manipulate the comment although it's pretty clear if you look at it.

Hmm, smiley faces of Banana or Coffee usually means iam trolling.......
I am pretty sure the most brain dead individual should be able to figure that out, as i always use them when trolling
But what ever.
How would i know that Laudrup is more consistent without watching him on a consistent basis? :lol!:

Re: Marco Van Basten
Laudrup wasn't consistent though, that and never giving his full 100% were his real issues. Perhaps the latter contributed to the former but I digress. As for Zidane's consistency, he was as consistent as an attacking midfield play maker can get.
Never really seen Van Basten to really appreciate him like I would with other players. Only tapes, DVD and highlights of selected matches. However, the man was striker supreme indeed. Question for those who really seen him in action: Was he fast like Ronaldo fast or just deceptively quick like Iniesta or Redondo?
Also, funny how Ajax produced Van Basten and right after produced Dennis Bergkamp and then proceeded to produce the De Boer brothers, Patrick Kluivert, Overmars and Edgar Davids....
