Ozil vs. David Silva

We have a mini debate in Real Madrid section. Who is the better play in AM position? eco smile

We had the chance to sign Silva a year ago but Mourinho prefered Ozil to him. Some people think, it was the wrong choice. What's your opinion? eco smile

Silva, he is about better then Ozil at everything. Also he shows up in big games.

Not denying the fact that he is better than Ozil atm at most things , but I'm not sure I would use the "big game player" route.Clearly Silva is better at the moment.

I guess this opinion assumes that Barca is the only big game Madrid has played- which is false by the way.It would be like saying Silva isn't a big game player because he didn't show up against Bayern, or because he didn't show up against Barca when playing for Valencia.

NB Tearing England and Argentina apart at the world cup doesn't count as big game performance?Why?

Come on man....how is it a "disgrace".

It's a poll between two players neither of whom is really clearly and unequivocally better than the other.

You make it seem like if Ozil is some vagabond on the side of the road and Silva is this eternal god when the truth is , it's extremely difficult o distinguish one from the other based on what they've done over the last year and a half.

Stop acting as if Madrid fans are the only ones who ovverate players, it couldn't be further from the truth.

Ozil was much better than Silva last season, but Silva is outshining him atm. But the two are very similar players, it's really hard to pick one over the other.

Depends the system you plays,for fast ball moving direct attacking side like Real madrid i will take Ozil any day,also ozils vision and intelligence is second to none.It is not a coincidence he became the Assist master of last season and created more chances than any player in the world.

I would prefer silva in a slow ball moving system,he is better technically but doesnt have the same skillset of ozil.Also silva's shooting technique is not so great.Silva is more versatile though.

Ozil in top form is better than Silva imo. no bias here. Ozil is amazing when he is at his best.

Silva is a fantastic player, however as a AM alone, Ozil is without question the better of the two players.

Both can't really use their right foot too well. Both can't jump all that high nor I doubt they have much heading capabilities. One looks at you weird while the other has Cindy Crawford's mole without actually being Cindy Crawford. Both probably can't sing all that well and I'm sure neither deceived Xavi.

I personally don't see much difference really...

He almost always showed up against us even if valencia didn't win..

After thinking about this I cant actually decide, I really love Oezil's ability and hes so explosive and has great vision/passing

Silva though is so technical its ridiculous and his dribbling in tight spaces is amazing, and hes also quite tough on the ball

so tbh I'd say on the top of their game they are on the same level

Ozil is a great young player who has absolutaly the potential to operate on Silva's level, but at the moment It's no contest. Silva's game is 2 steps further.

Anyone that has been watching football this season knows that Silva is the best midfielder in Europe so far this 2011/12 campaign. Not that Barcalona and Real Madrid fans will ever admit it, It's okay
