AS Roma - Lecce
Sunday night game
Okay,so former Roma player Di Francesco will be out to cause an upset when his Lecce side take on us come Sunday.Lecce who have been pretty rubbish so far this season have started to show signs of getting their season started with a win in their last game away to Cesena. They are a dangerous side so we must not underestimate them.
Don't know what lineup will see...
I'd like to see this though..
-------------------------------------Stekelenburg----------------------------------
Rosi----------------------Kjaer---------------------Heinze---------------------Angel
--------------------------------------Gago----------------------------------------
--------------------------De Rossi-------------------Pjanic-------------------------
-------------------------------------Totti----------------------------------------
-----------------Lamela------------------------------Osvaldo-----------------------

Btw, let's keep an eye out for Bertolacci this Sunday. I haven't seen him play this season, looking forward to see if he's improved. And it'll definitely be a chance for Enrique, Sabatini and co. to see what kind of player they have their hands on.

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
My sentiments exactly regarding Bertolacci, Mike.
He showed last season glimpses of what he can do when given minutes and see how Luis Enrique favors youth overall, there may be a place for him if he does well against us in this fixtures as well as the return leg at the Via del Mare next year.
As for the match itself, Lecce aren't very good when they play us at the Olimpico, but that's not saying much. This team has a penchant for scoring in flurries, as Milan can attest to and with our defense leaky as ever, we need to expect them to score at least one goal if not 2.
Ultimately, we'll have enough about us to get a win, if not a draw at least from this game.

Hopefully this will be our first rout of the season. Time to show what Roma is made of! Time to show that we are not Palermo level crap

I'm starting to think differently about that Neal.We haven't seen Viviani,Nego or Caprari given a chance yet.He shipped out Crescenzi to Bari after his impressive performances in pre-season.
This is nearly like a practice season for LE the plan of our new owners to play an attractive style of play,a season for experimentation so why isn't he doing that ?
We can put up with one crapy season but come next season people will want to see a massive improvement and I mean massive, otherwise he'll be shown the door..

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
Not really worried about next season.
LE's trying to figure out what kind of players he has right now so that's why he's sticking with this current group.
You don't coach and nurture the Barca B team, with all their youth, for nothing...eventually when LE hits his stride, he will inject youth into this team. ..he's already gone quite some way towards doing that....look at Bojan, Lamela, Kjaer, Jose Angel, Gago and Rosi...all 25 and under. As we get better, we'll probably get younger.

Fair points Neal. But i don't like the fact he is ignoring the Italian youth by that i mean the players mentioned in my above post and his bias towards Spanish/La liga players...
We have one of the best youth setups in Italy,we should use it...

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
Yea I would like to see some of our youngsters too, but the best ones are either midfielders or attackers and currently we're all filled up with those in the first team. We have 7 attackers which is more than enough and a bunch of midfielders. If we don't sell many this January, I would say that the only player that has a chance of getting a cap for the first team is Viviani.

You really think viviani is Gago level? Every point counts, so we cant experiment with youth here. Youth is for Coppa Crap.

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
Viviani didn't look ready in pre-season and the performance he put in against Valencia basically summed it up. That said, he's well in line for another try.
And no he's not on Gago's level.
And youth is future of Roma. Totti didn't get to where he is now by being played constantly in cup matches. Zeman had the balls to throw him out on the pitch and instead of sinking, he swam....and then some.
Luis Enrique could and will probably do the same thing. Amato Ciciretti should be ready pretty soon. I reckon he's the closest player I've seen who can eventually take over the "Totti" role.

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
Well Luis Enrique did say that Viviani was the player that impressed him the most this summer. He played badly against Valencia, but aside from that he looked pretty good.
And yes, we have to have the balls to use our youngsters. Guys like Totti, De Rossi and Aquilani made it because we believed in them and used them consistently. Others didn't make it because we didn't give them the chance to prove themselves.

Enrique has been using Cassetti with Heinze in training. He's also tried out Greco again with Gago and De Rossi.

^ Skip it man. I've skipped classes and asked for sick days to watch some games lol. I planned my whole schedule around Europa League, then that just went all wrong.

i could if i wanted to. its a pickup game nothing serious. but i made a commitment to lose weight and i gotta uphold to it. i started at 195. im at 180 now. i used to be 140 before college and moving to the US. American food is so so unhealthy. and too much mass transit here in NY that i barely have to walk anymore. the only game i cant miss is vs lazio, a continental match, or coppa Italia late stages. work i can miss. workout id prefer to not miss out on lol

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
You sir are stronger than I. I would've given up on that commitment long ago. I plan my weekends around Roma and I've often been told that my priorities are screwed up. It's pretty much Roma, then education, then work, then everything else. Only emergencies could bump everything down lol.
Ps- yea American food is super unhealthy.

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
but i'm sure you put your own health and wellbeing before roma, which is what i'm trying to do
but of course i'll still call in sick to work if it's a good match though , or i'd take an extended lunch break and catch the match on my android

Re: AS Roma - Lecce
heading out now
i'm kinda hoping JSB will have a good game, but i hope we score a lot of goals too
so here's to hoping we create a shitload of chances, see a couple of 09/10 style JSB saves, and maybe a 2-0 win
