Marquez
even though Marquez was hurt I still saw that right hittin again eventually.
If you look at say the first 30 seconds before the KO, the action was slow, then a sudden exchange. In that exchange as Manny came in, Marquez threw the exact same right hand which just barely missed Manny. He set him up again for it and then nailed him.
Elite fighting. Find the punch that you can consistently hit and set it up without making it obvious.
Yep he set both knockdown punches up brilliantly. I was real surprised Manny got up that quick from the 1st knockdown, that was a shot too.
I'm reading Marquez has a broken nose(no surprise) and a possible concussion. But Manny has to have some brain damage or something after that hit.

Re: Boxing thread
Probably fight of the year for me.
It was tactical and a war at the same time, very very rare.
In the end, the old boxing adage wins out as usual.
The great counter puncher beats the great come forward swarmer.
The straight right is the perfect punch vs a southpaw.
Floyd - Marquez rematch?
For Floyd its a very winnable fight as he already proven, he is a superior version of Marquez. Marquez chance to get revenge and take out the 2 best of the generation with this new, bigger, stronger body being the equaliser?
Also makes Floyd look better if he beats him before and after Marquez took out Pacman.

Re: Boxing thread
Yeah when I saw the knockout live, I thought he dropped him with a body shot, until Manny didn't move, that's how well he set that punch up.
Crazy fight, even before that knockout it was already on it's way to being a classic fight.

Re: Boxing thread
I was totally shocked after that KO! (Pac-Man fan here)
Pac looked in control, and was leading on points, and he had Marquez on the ropes literally and figuratively in the 5th round. Marq had a broken nose and he wasn't moving as well as he did in the first few rounds.
I think that shot from Marq suprised a lot of us. It juz came out of the blue. But it was Pac's fault, he had the round and imo was a little bit too eager. But hey... You lose some and win some. And of course credit to Marq. He pulled off an impressive KO punch, one of the best I've seen. I mean juz the way Pac was left face down, totally out cold on the canvas. Brilliant fight. Brilliant way to end it, but of course disappointed.
And do any of ya'll think we'll see Pacquiao - Marquez 5
*my last hopes of a tiny eenzie weenzie possibility of a Pacquiao - Mayweather fight was dashed today*

Pac's certainly not the same he was a few years ago.
But still a fecking legend imo. Will go down as a great. And will leave us with some totally unforgettable memories with his explosive style of boxing.

Re: Boxing thread
Probably now maybe mayweather could possibly win. I mean after all these years and they still haven't fought. It isn't going to happen anytime soon. Especially when Pac was on a roll.
Pac should retire already imo. The man has fought over 60 professional fights already he should retire or pull a "mayweather" had preserve his record aha

Re: Boxing thread
Epic fight kind of want to see it again but then again that could very well be a career ending shot on Pac, that counter was just incredible Martinez carbon copy but with other hand.
Am really surprised in how well JMM stood up, I was almost certain in the 5th round he was going to go down when he looked proper wobbly etc but he hung in there and props to him. I really like the man so happy he finally got his win, he deserved one from the series thats for sure.
Pac would have won the fight if he didn't get careless and go for the knockout, all that talk previous was on his mind and he just got reckless dived in with his hands down and paid the price. If he stuck it out am sure he would have won that, but thats boxing one punch can change everything.
Bad year for king Roach
Inb4roidsallegations
& the Mayweather talk is just silly, stupid and irrelevant to the context.

Re: Boxing thread
JMM
Had Manny winning by 1 point. Manny is not the smartest guy, and he would have never slowed down that's just the type of fighter he is. I felt like Marquez threw less punches than his previous fights against Manny and wasn't actually trying to outbox Manny. Instead he threw less but harder punches that actually hurt Manny. Last thing Marquez wanted was for this fight to go to the judges, so he actually did go looking for the tko/ko. At least that's how I saw it. Incredible how much power Marquez gained.
I think Juan should retire now, but who knows. If he does stay JMM vs Bradley in May. Pac and Rios in May and then Jmm vs Pac V in September.
And LOL at every one mentioning Floyd. He still wont fight Manny ffs

Re: Boxing thread
And why should he lol? why fight someone who can't even beat a 39 year old man that Floyd toyed with like a 6 year old?
This just proves Pacquaio never had a chance in a million years.
Also he has called Pacquaio out to fight many times not his fault Bob Arum is a c*nt tbh.

Re: Boxing thread
MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- Filipino fans were stunned by Manny Pacquiao's knockout defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez, dampening the spirit of a nation battered by a powerful typhoon that killed more than 600 people in the southern region where the boxing champion lives.
''People were really dismayed,'' Esperanza told The Associated Press by telephone. ''It was like they were hit by another typhoon.''
Have mercy on us Mole wahahahaha.
BTW I live in the capital(north) so i'm not affected by that horror typhoon at all if anyone is concerned.
