an alround superstar.
up front, out wide, in the hole and now in the middle..
he drove past players, used it in tight spaces, fantastic searching long passes, 1 touch and great technique..
the man is ridiculous

He actually looks a better midfielder than Anderson....which is not that hard to do. Rooney is just an all round extremely gifted footballer.

I prefer him up front though.

Of course he played well, but all bark, no bite today from United. Put him back up top.

How stubborn is SAF going to continue to be and not buy a world class central attacking midfielder?

Now they have to play there best player out of position and while he played well they need him up front too.

Rooney playing from deep was a fail though. Barely watched the match, so my opinion matters very little really

short term yes, but a midfielder would have taken cleverleys place, and hes been outstanding thus far

You can say for the short term but by my count you have needed one for the last 3 years, and it has cost you 2 Champions League finals. Pretty much since Ronaldo's last year in a United shirt you have needed a traditional attacking midfielder and it's the reason Barca were able to boss United in those games.

I just don't know why SAF won't get one, it's not money or players not wanting to go there, that's why I think he's just plain being stubborn about the issue.

BTW, I think the same thing about Pep and not buying defenders and putting midfielders there, so please don't take this as a bash United or SAF post.
