David Trezeguet says he wouldn’t be surprised if former club Juventus ended the campaign as Italian champions.

Juve have struggled to be competitive in the post-Calciopoli years, but they currently lead the standings following the summer arrival of Antonio Conte as boss.

“I follow Juventus very closely,” Trezeguet, who left the Old Lady in the summer of 2010, told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I can tell you that the Scudetto is possible because Conte is working very well.”

Conte, though, is not the only new face making a telling contribution in Turin this season as Trezeguet outlined.

“Andrea Pirlo is making the difference in the middle of the field,” the French World Cup winner continued.

“You also have to admit that Juventus’ rivals are still moving quite slowly.”

Juve sit top, a point above Udinese and Lazio, and two clear of reigning champions Milan who released Pirlo on a Bosman in the summer.
