Suprised at 2 winning nominations for Portal 2 btw, dont get me wrong its a quality game and a breathe of fresh air but theres been atleast 5 games that have been better IMHO.

I am willing to bet IGN chose Uncharted 3, Just because of how much they like it going by thier coverage and review.

I agree with the Portal 2 shenanigans here. I mean both portals are great and certainly-as you said- are a breath of fresh air compared to most games and I enjoyed them quite a bit.

However the game is a puzzle game and as a result, once you finish the great storyline and writing, humorous dialogue, there really is nothing more. And even that is overshadowed by the relatively quick completion time on both modes. I definitely did not spend more than 24 hours on the whole thing IMO- that is also with no help. And I'm glad that I never bought it because I probably never would have picked it up again.

Not saying it's a bad game, it's just...because of the nature of the game, it's lacking. It's great at what it does, but what it does is limited. And for me, for it to win Game of the Year, that's pretty ridiculous. Especially when you have games like Skyrim, Batman, and Gears in the races as well (won't comment on Uncharted, never even heard of the series as sad as that might sound)

I reckon Arkham City, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Modern Warefare 3 and Crysis 2 were my favorite games of the year

BUMPED FOR IGN

IGN chose Portal 2 as their game of the year.

A big WTF for me. I just don't think it was THAT great. Hell, Gears 3 I preferred and I don't even hardly play Gears.

Whatttevverrr. I like Portal 2 and all but it's not Game of the Year material, as I've said.

I think they chose it just because it wasn't Skyrim

However, I did like how when they were announcing the winner. They had a clip from Skyrim and the guy pulled out one of the Portal teleport devices.

I think the lulz would be bigger if it was MW3 instead of Skyrim though
