how on earth did they omit silva from the list.
The list is a complete joke considering many of the players listed are not supposed to be there

IMO the actual squad should be something like:

GK: Casillas, Neuer, ???
DEF: Alves, Lahm, Vidic, T. Silva, Pique, Abidal, Marcelo
MID: Xabi, Xavi, Iniesta, Schweinsteiger, D.Silva, Sahin
FWD: Messi, Cristiano, Rooney, Neymar, Rossi, Falcao, Sanchez

There 23. Very hard to pick them properly though.

Khedira may be integral to Madrid, however I disagree that this deserves a place on the shortlist. Khedira's collection of attributes is unique to Madrid within a single player and thus must play an integral hedging role within the squad, however given the nature of his role, though it does not deserve to go unappreciated, it does represent a facet of the game which may represent the 2-5% difference between teams at crucial times, but should separated from Madrid's system itself.

Khedira's performances at the World Cup are not taken into account for this award and Adit's reference to the difference between the Copa Del Rey final and the Champions League semi-final grossly exaggerates his contribution in my eyes. Attitude and hence approach dominated Madrid's ability to compete with Barcelona. Khedira's presence in the semi-final wouldn't have meant a thing when the team's approach was to park the bus against an Iniesta-less Barcelona; Madrid were frankly screwed from that point onwards in the tie, with playing catch up an almost futile exercise.

Important, but we're discussing the Ballon D'Or shortlist. In order to qualify, whilst playing such a role, he requires incredible consistency and individual performances, not merely for Madrid to lack a strong alternative in his position. It is easy for a player's general performances to be viewed in a more favourable light simply due to their competition for a spot. Abate greatly improves Milan's play, system and stability, however he is no better simply because we struggle when Antonini or Bonera play his role.

Pepe should be there though, another absentee I didn't notice at first. Ligue 1 is also entirely neglected.

sad to see no chelsea players on the list but it would be difficult to make any real case for any of them (except cashley maybe) to be there so i guess its fair

imagine if neymar won it........

If Falcao isn't on the list I'll be annoyed. Becoming the best scorer ever in Europa League with 17 goals and being the most important player in a treble winning team has to count for something.

Thiago Silva and Vidic's absence is an absolute joke however. Busquets, Rossi and Valdes should also be there in the place of others as well.

Van der Vaart, Khedira, Robben, Casillas and Sneijder have no business on that list based on the performances of this year. Robben started something like 13 Bundesliga games for the entire season, let alone just in 2012, do these people even pay attention?

Forlan have no business on the shortlist... uruguay wasnt all that great in the copa america so why botter, i mean yea suarez does deserve it but more based on his performance in liverpool (and was more important to forlan to uruguay this year) and he scored just 8 goals from 33 games in atletico. busquets and valdes? lool they dont suck but come on i saw valdes this year he was not that great ive seen better keepers like casillas.. and busquets still can wait few years.. i agree with thiago silva and vidic. Everybody please stop saying that your favorite players should be on the list and stop saying players u dont know that they dont belong in the list before u seen them play or at least check out his statisctics

rotation means not even being subbed in???

i recall seeing iniesta come off the bench and xavi being subbed out(not for eachother).... not to mention the massive fail in flopregas was also subbed out

thiago couldnt have been squeezed in???

Mou is rotation as well, yet he doesnt keep even coentrao on the bench for a whole game, and thiago is supposed to be your best midfielder

No matter how you want to make it as Pep doesn’t have faith in Fab because he didn’t play one fricking game I can assure you that this is not the case.
How Cuenca playing and Cesc being subbed is lack of faith again is beyond me really.

Xavi was never injured at any stage, just rested because he cant play consecutive games very often anymore .......

Fact's are there even when they were all fit Thiago still played everygame ( Barca played 3-4-3 ffs)......

Some advice instead of reading everything from the media actually watch some football for some facts.......

Only one game Thiago missed which was the game against Granada

But he's a bit part player

when he came back iniesta got injured and when he came back fabregas got injured and now that he is back thiago is back on the bench

there is a reason why he is always one of the top runners when it comes to distance covered
