Chiellini respects quality of Genoa
Giorgio Chiellini expects a battle when League leaders Juventus host Genoa in Serie A on Saturday night.
“Genoa have a lot of quality,” the defender told TV show ‘Dribbling’ in an interview. “Much more than in previous years.
“They’ve had a stop-start beginning to the season, perhaps because this quality still needs to come to the fore.
“But from midfield right through to the strikers they’ve got players who can find space against any big team, from the first minute until the last.
“They’re able to come to life in an instant and decide a game within a few minutes, without being effective for the rest of the match.
“We’ve got a tough week ahead, but now we’re focused solely on this game and preparing for this clash in the best possible way.”
Genoa are the first of four tricky ties that the Old Lady will have to navigate over the next month seeing as they play Fiorentina in midweek, before matches at Inter and Napoli.
“It has been a good start to the championship as far as we’re concerned,” continued the central defender who has been used at left-back in recent weeks.
“We could have had a couple of points more to enjoy being up there on our own, but I believe that we’ve been able to show that we’re a great side, equipped to contest a good season.
“It’s an even League and this must make us aware that we’re able to give everyone a good game.”
Udinese, who host Novara on Sunday, are joint leaders with Juventus going into Week 8.
