imho Iniesta..
Look how he controls the ball under pressure with his weaker foot

Really? You think the difference is that big? How do you back that up?Arquitecto wrote:His name is Xavi Hernandez.

In my opinion it's very close between all three.

They are all about as good as each other, I would give it to Xavi. They are so close so it's hard to tell. Iniesta then Messi. but it is more important to Xavi's game than the other two.

Control I meant. Isn't that what most people refer to as simply "first touch"? Maybe I should've specified that

Why isn't there an option for 'all'? Because I can't split them... Maybe its Iniesta, but it could just be an illusion because he's 'Mr. Silky Touch'. I think its too close to call.

Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
I wasnt trolling btw, iam serious Busquets has the best first touch in the squad by miles.......
Never ever seen him mis-control the ball, while Messi does it frequently as does Iniesta( even tho they both do amazing things with ball technique wise)
Xavi is a close second, but Busquets easily is the best first touch player in the squad......
Guardiola, Xavi and Pique have all said so

Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
Depends how you judge it.
If its about consistency, then I would go with Xavi.
If its about degree of difficulty then its Iniesta or maybe Messi.
The closer you are to goal, the higher the degree of difficultly generally speaking.
I like Iniesta because he has to be consistent at times and have to do things of a great degree of difficulty at others.

Because that would defeat the purpose of even having a debate about it, it's funner if you're forced into forming and opinion and defending it.
Mole my apologies for not including Busquets, clearly should've included an 'Other' part.
Also could someone post Jiopsi's former sig of like 2 days ago? Because the way Messi controlled that ball was simply amazing...

Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
Iniesta. But it's so close between the three that it's...I couldn't decide if i even wanted to vote.
Iniesta goal vs Viktoria, anyone? Haha, but there's a good example of Iniesta's first touch not only in the midfield, but in the upper third where it's also fantastic.

Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
Iniesta easily for me...second goes to messi and then a then xavi orrrr maybe busi who has a underestimated first touch
Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
It depends, at dribbling its messi, his touches while running with the ball is above everyone. his dribbles over lines in 1cm space is just ridiculous.
one example is in this video at 1:20
if you mean controlling the ball that coming from 50 yards its between messi and ineista. they used to control those balls under pressure and in difficult position. xavi and busquets are third because they play in midfield where has more space
Also this is why barcelona can play tiki-taka, all team almost have incredible first touch. tiki taka isnt easy as it seems

Re: Who has the best first touch in the team?
Busquets is a good shout, as basically everybody from Xavi to Guardiola have said that his first touch is the best. Watching videos of Barcelona's "rondos" you'll notice that he rarely loses the ball, always takes the simple option.
That said, I don't think anybody on the team (let alone in the world) has a better first touch in attacking positions than Messi. He's prone to the occasional error or slip of judgment, but that's only because frequently he's trying to do something remarkable with that first touch. Frequently, Messi's first touch is a kind of a non-touch, a feint; this is where he effectively kills the ball, throws his shoulder in one direction, and then accelerates in the other. Really nobody like him, not even Xavi and Iniesta.

Didn't Xavi and Guardiola say that Busquets was the best one touch passer and not the player with the best first touch?
