I always felt his Fiorentina days were about more than poaching, especially since he was expected to be the main creative force up front.

Followed him during his whole career. He was the best Argentine player for a long time. But I wouldn't consider him creative. He was positionally amazing, had a never give up mentality, was quite athletic, fast and his shot was brutal. But he didn't move deep to create.

I would guess not, but didn
t he play a lot with his back to the goal instead of facing the goal, which would make him similar to Ibra in that he held the ball up for his mates. That would make him like a target man-poacher hybrid.

My view is that he was more similar to a traditional poacher than to an hybrid.

Beat me to it. But ya, Pippo is the definition of this position, no doubt about it.

As for Cavani, I personally wouldn't define him as a poacher. He's more rounded than that, capable of playing in any position up front. Giving him the poacher label undermines his other qualities.

Lol... no. Benzema had a fantastic game. It's about the team scoring and the team scores just as much with Benzema than with Higuain. In the 3 goals while he was on the pitch, Benzema played a major role in all (including the OG). He's one of those guys that is facilitates. Also saw him poach on the first goal.

We have two young WC strikers at Madrid. It's always going to be controversial when one doesn't play.

Yeah Benzema had a great game, i'm not questioning it. i'm just saying Higgy would've done the same if he was a starter. Mou could've used both of them at the same time. bench Di Maria = problem solved
