We spent 20 mil on Robbie Keane and also 8 mil on Riera. So i would assume we atleast would have spend 20-25 mil on Silva atleast if Rafa had his way.
As for Valencia saying Silva wasnt for sale no they were happy negotiating with us acc. to Ballgue. And how many times Valencia have said they wont sell and then were happy to sell when the price is met?

An improvement right now. Place is starting to become a joke. And that has nothing to do with the Rafa threads.

Rafa didn't destroy the club, did you forget about the two idiot owners?

Sir Alex Ferguson's success with Manchester United due to money, not mind games, says former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez
Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez believes Manchester United's wealth, and not the mind games of their manager Sir Alex Ferguson, is the reason for the Red Devils' current dynasty.
When asked if Ferguson's personality was critical for United's success, Benitez told Radio Merseyside: "No, I think it's the money they were spending."
"If you analyse the transfer record and the history... Rooney, or Ferdinand, for example... £30 million for a young player or a centre-back.
"Every year they [United] are very well-off. It's not just because of the interviews or the press conferences; it's because they had money."
The rivalry between the two managers came to a head in 2009 when Ferguson allegedly waged psychological warfare on the then Reds manager.
The Merseyside outfit were top of the league when the Spaniard publicly replied to allegations of mind games by holding a press conference and presenting a list of "facts" suggesting the United boss was influencing referees.
Liverpool went on to concede the title to United, with many openly blaming Benitez's outburst as shifting moral superiority and momentum between the clubs.
The Spaniard admitted that the press' speculation of mind games between the two managers bothered him, but remained steadfast in denying that Ferguson's charades had any effect on him.
"To be fair, I didn't like it when the press was talking about mind games because I was just focused on my team, and the things I had to do for the team," Benitez said.
"If you say something in a press conference I can guarantee you that it has no impact on another manager. It can happen perhaps one in one hundred times, but the press likes to talk about mind games, but what they don't realise is that you cannot win mind games if you have a bad team.
"You can be the best in the press conference, but after, if you have a bad team you will lose. It's easy to talk about mind games when he [Ferguson] has a good team and he has won, and that was the case."
Benitez is currently unemployed after a short stint at Inter Milan in 2010.

He just doesn't know what he is talking about, one of the most overrated managers in the game.

Re: the bitter spanish waiter..
Sell player A - 20 mil
Buy player B - 19mil
Sell player C - 16
Buy player D - 21 mil
Sell player B - 15 mil
Buy player E - 18 mil
Spent 58 mil yet squad strength hasn't grown
Just saying.
Rafa worked on a sell to buy basis, SAF didn't.

Rafa didnt buy Keane. It didnt want him in the first place because he wont fit into our system.he actually wanted to buy Silva.
But it was a decision forced upon him by our muppet DOF Rick Parry to satisfy his ego.
Honestly most fans apart from Liverpool fans didnt have much knowledge of the situation he was working in.Thats why he is rated more among Liverpool fans than by others.

Re: the bitter spanish waiter..
Apparently the finances of Liverpool disagree with some of what you guys are saying. Clearly Liverpool spent more since 2004 than MUnited according to the numbers posted by one poster above.
Regardless of Rafa's legacy in Liverpool and Valencia; he is coming off as an ass by these frankly "look at me" remarks. Pretending MUnited are only on top due to money while he spent more, Chelsea spent more, MCirty spent more. Chelsea got something out of their spending but are on a bad spot now, and they could not get a CL yet. MCity are yet to be seen.
This thread disintegrated into attacking Rafa's credentials as a manager, while it should have been an attack on Rafa as an analyst. He chooses what to see to base it on the situation instead of seeing what the situation is.
In my book, a better manager than Rafa could have won more with that amazing Liverpool squad. I don't consider Ancellotti a great manager for the same reason.
Apparently though, saying Rafa is not a great manager becomes an insult towards him. He is a good manager, sometimes brilliant but his shortcomings are there to be seen.
Get over it, Rafa is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

im assuming your getting for only winning one scudetto at milan?
yet you manage to forget all his other honours:
x1 Coppa Italia
x2 UEFA Champions League
x2 UEFA Super Cup
x1 Serie A
x1 Italian Supercup
x1FIFA Club World Cup
and really you could almost add another CL and CWC because he pretty much won that CL final vs 'pool (not who coached that 'pool side too)
and his work at chelsea was top notch (in patches), imo he should be coaching for a new contract this season
