I know I know, we are all just supposed to act like we know how great Messi is and were not shocked by how good he is anymore but wow. Between the last game vs Milan and today's game vs Vayo which is still going on, this is some of the best football I have ever seen. And it's not the goals, he's got 2 and an assist right now but would have many more assists if Alexis knew how to shoot a football. His over all game (in basketball we would call it his floor game) outside of scoring is just so impressive almost equally as impressive as the goals.

I mean I'm an older poster on here and I can't really remember anything close to this. Were not even impressed by 50 goals / 20 assists anymore. Again the form he is in is amazing and I think we are starting to get sucked into expecting it from him all the time and in turn not fully appreciating it anymore.

On the flip side of the coin, Alexis is one of the worst finishers I have ever seen. He gets so many WIDE OPEN chances and his shot's are not even close even with no one near him. Please take him back to Serie A please. I'm so tired of watching him.

To end my rant, are you guys still shocked by what he does and if not, what would he have to do to actually put a post up here for how good of a game he had. It just seems months of incredible performances go by without anyone posting it.

Its OK it is not being noticed/mentioned on this. He will win the Ballon d'Or for another 3/4 years and people wont understand, because they dont watch him week in/week out. This guy is unbelievable, his second goal today was such a great one. 1v1 against the defender, and the timing for the lob was incredible, without looking up were the keeper was positioned. Best player ever. No discussion.

Yea, I know. IT just seems like he has to have like 4-5 goals for anyone to notice. BTW, it's similar with Ronaldo, I think to an extent with the two of them playing in the same generation that people are taking them for granted.

See, this is kind of what I'm talking about. The form Messi is in right now is so far ahead of anything Ozil is doing it's insane. If MEssi had a game like Ozil does people would say he had a bad game, that's what it's come down to.

If messi just has a good floor game with an assist or two we would get threads that X center back shut him down. It happens all the time on here.

Why don't you guys just keep bumping 1 Messi thread every time he does something good instead of creating 10 threads for each goal. Seriously there are 2 threads created just because of today.

TBH we've all already agreed that he's good at the football, no use mentioning it again every time he proves what everyone knows.

Ronaldo is a great player, but Messi gets marked alot more, even triple-marked some games, and he still manages to create chances, positioning off the ball, deconstruct defensive lines - while Ronaldo in 99% of the games is facing 1 defender. Imagine Messi only facing 1 defender, game in/game out.

He has to carry the entire forward line by himself, when Villa is not there. Alves with al his horrible long ball passes, Sanchez missing every clear chance. Messi has the best futbol intelligence I have ever seen.

I hope another 1000 threads will be opened in honour of his brilliant talent.

I would love to start that argument - I did a reading last week at a youth academy about all attackers and their markings. Please give arguments, I will counter.

This is kind of what I mean as well. And it's not as shot at you because I know a lot of people feel the same way. This is a board where people discuss football and generally who is playing well and who is not is usually what get's posted.

It's your opinion that Messi just shouldn't be mentioned anymore if he has a good game? Just ignore it and post once or twice a year when he has a 4 or 5 goal game?

not saying RMessi does not get marked or anything

but some people ignore the fact that ronaldo gets heavily marked

think about it, why will defenders let roanldo roam them then when the face Barca decide to over mark messi?
