cant compare his performance with that of a midfielder or defender, but the best striker for both club and country is without a doubt this guy. if i would pick one player then also i would choose him, but then again i already told that it is hard to compare him with other players in other positions.

since when? Özil isn't Germany's most important player (he may be the most talented but) - he's replacable with Götze and to a lesser extent Müller.

Lahm and Schweinsteiger are far more irreplacable and since switching flanks Lahm has been a beast.

goetze cannot replace Ozil, he adds something different than ozil. But ozil is also one of the irreplaceable in Germany after Schwnie. His vision, creativity and passing is worldclass.

Gotze cant replace Ozil,hes not creative enough

The top 3 are Xavi, Ozil and Villa, IMO. There are many others who can challenge them, of course, like Schweinsteiger, Silva, Casillas, Suarez, etc. But these are my top 3.

I can post ton of matches that other players failed. watch the video that ganso posted, messi plays in defence not in attack. he can not dribble from his own defence and score a goal

Even biased man can see that Ozil didnt do 50% of what messi did even though ozil was always unmarked compared with 2-3 man marked messi. yes he scored a goal but heinze also scored so it doesnt matter. Now i understand you say Ozil better performer for national team because of his national team level, but in reality messi owns all

Özil's stamina and performance for the German NT have gone much up nowadays. And look at the topic - it says "today" not "in 2010".
