Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
TBH, I prefer Chamakh to Torres. I posted the bit about him being available for 20 million to gauge reactions; the thought that some of you might want him never crossed my mind.
Btw, one question. Is his class the only reason you wouldn't mind him joining, although it ticked quite a few people off when we signed Benayoun [Chelsea reject] and talk of us linked with Kalou [another reject] surfaced? And I thought class is permanent, you can't play without class for close to 2 years.

I would sell Rosicky if we can get a Decent Replacement. Pjanic would have been an awesome replacement but we didnt need him then.

On Henry, Wenger said "It's not a stupid suggestion. It is a possible option. Do I do it? I can not tell you at the moment".

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
GiveMeFootball has drawn up a list of players that Arsenal could sign to improve their firepower and help out Van Persie. Who would you chase?
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
The French forward has established himself in the Real Madrid starting eleven this season and scored 14 times in 23 games, including the opener in double quick time in the El Classico on Saturday, but reports have still linked him with a switch to North London.
Sadly for Arsenal these stories have their prized asset Van Persie moving in the other direction, but if they could stump up a straight cash offer it may tempt Real to sell and unite Wenger with another of his compatriots.
Jefferson Farfan (Schalke 04)
Blessed with unbelievable pace, the ability to play through the middle or on the flanks and a contract that expires in the summer, Farfan may be an attractive option for Arsenal.
He has been linked with the club for a number of months now with Andrei Arshavin potentially moving to Schalke as part of the deal in exchange. Although he has never been a prolific scorer, Farfan may prove to fit the bill for a knockdown fee and could make an impact in England.
David Villa (Barcelona)
Rumours are abound that Pep Guardiola is willing to let David Villa leave the Camp Nou because of his reluctance to play second fiddle to Lionel Messi, with the arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas pushing the ex-Valencia man down the pecking order.
Villa could strike up an unbelievable partnership with Van Persie that would be the stuff of dreams for the Arsenal faithful, but if Wenger wants to stay loyal to his 4-3-3 system then the Spanish international has proved he can be effective playing from the left for both his national team and the Catalan giants.
Considering he cost in excess of £30 million when he signed 18 months ago and Barcelona would be hoping for a similar fee, the signing may be just out of Arsenal’s reach.
Lukas Podolski (FC Koln)
With 13 goals in 14 Bundesliga starts this season, Podolski is in tremendous form and his contract ends in 2013.
The German has left Koln before and endured a disappointing time at Bayern Munich, even being demoted to their second team for a spell when Luca Toni came in. Podolski then returned to his hometown club and is playing the best football of his career.
The Bayern experience may have scarred him but Podolski is more mature now at 26 years old and is another versatile player who could do a job as a centre forward or on the wing.
And the mission impossible...
Fernando Torres (Chelsea)
Apparently available for a cut-price £20 million, Wenger could be tempted to take a gamble on the Chelsea misfit.
Torres was scintillating when he was at Liverpool with electric pace and unerring finishing ability as he took the Barclays Premier League by storm scoring 65 league goals in 102 games.
His 3 goals in 25 appearances for Chelsea in the league is far from impressive but if Wenger can stoke the fires within the Spanish forward £20 million would seem like a bargain.

I'd take Farfan for Arshavin and Benzema/Podolski. I'd take Torres too if Chelsea paid us 20m.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Arsenal linked with Anderlecht striker Matías Suárez
Suárez is a 23-year old Argentinian striker who plays for Anderlecht. He has 7 goals in 14 league starts this season and 7 goals in 8 Europa League apps this season.
Suárez, nicknamed 'Oreja', joined Anderlecht from Club Atlético Belgrano in 2008 for a minimal fee.

with chamakh, his most goals were via head, on youtube anyways. Additionaly, he scored like 12 goals in 15 matches with us up till Jan 2011. Was kinda clinical too
Matias finishing looks miles better IMO.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Marco Reus news: SZ reports that he will decide between Bayern and Dortmund over Xmas. move abroad ruled out
And Wenger says "no" to Podolski in January. Emphatic. (wenger press conference)
---
So that's the end of Reus and Podolski I guess. Gotze and Henry on loan, then?

Crap, there's still the hope of Moussa Sow and Hazard or Benzema and Gotze. Plus I don't trust Wenger to rule anyone out.Samuelj29060 wrote:Marco Reus news: SZ reports that he will decide between Bayern and Dortmund over Xmas. move abroad ruled out

Guys we cant lose hope, we all should know by now Wenger will never share with us the players he is interested in. Once a manger comes out and wants a player the price goes up right away.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger has got his scouts out in force ahead of the January transfer window, and they have been revealing their targets to the Daily Mail.
Of course Wenger’s main aim is to find a striker to cover for Gervinho and Chamakh, and the scouts will be in Germany to watch Lukas Podolski on Friday as Koln take on the prolific striker’s old team Bayern Munich. Podolski has already scored 14 goals in 15 games for Koln and has indicated that he would be keen to move away from Germany in the transfer window.
They have also revealed that the Arsenal Chief Scout Steve Rowley was down at his favourite club on the South Coast, Southampton, to have another look at their next big star Luke Shaw who was on show as they easily beat Sheffield United 7-0 in the FA Youth Cup.
The 16 year-old starlet played the first hour of the game and the wingback is hotly tipped as a future star so it is no wonder that he is lined up to join Arsenal and follow in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
It’s great news that Lukas Podolski is being lined up to join the Gunners to make an instant impact, but Shaw is certain to be one for the future.
