alot of these potential signings would make so much more sense if we went to a 4-3-1-2.

an mvlia song wilshere midfield with a gotze or eriksen as the playmaker would be crazy. and walcott and Rvp up front

he's been doing a bit better lately but no, you've got more mids at madrid than us probably. you need to have a deep squad in order to win and dominate these days. so no we'll keep him

Arsenal enter race to sign £8m French wonderkid Doumbia
Arsenal are chasing Rennes midfielder Tongo Hamed Doumbia.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best emerging talents in France and Gunners scouts have alerted Arsene Wenger about the possibility of a transfer.

Doumbia is 6ft 3in and can play in the centre or on the right. Rennes were willing to sell for around £8million but interest from Russian clubs CSKA and Spartak Moscow could increase the price.

Wenger is wary of paying over the odds but sees Doumbia as decent value.

Meanwhile, New York Red Bulls' USA defender Tim Ream, 24, has said Arsenal are eyeing him after a recommendation from team-mate Thierry Henry.

he still hasnt played at the level yet, pre injury he was our best long range shooter. now he struggles with that. he could also shoot with both feet which he cant do now. in addition his final ball was much crisper and he was more consistent. he is 70% there imo. its gonna take a long time for him to get back to pre injury ramsey.

Milan back in for Montolivo
Milan have made a fresh bid to Fiorentina for Riccardo Montolivo, reports in Italy are starting to suggest.

The Rossoneri unsuccessfully attempted to sign the midfielder on the cheap in the summer given that his contract expires in June 2012.

Now, according to whispers, the Diavolo have again been in touch with Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino about a possible January switch.

Milan are said to have bid €3m for the Atalanta youth product in the hope of tempting the Tuscan side to sell.

That figure is far below Montolivo’s actual transfer worth, but Fiorentina will now have to decide whether to sell at a cut-price or lose him in the summer on a Bosman free deal.

The Italian international has refused numerous contract extension offers at the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the last 18 months.

He was also associated with moves to Roma and Bayern Munich in the summer.

Schalke are attempting to set up a swap deal for Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin.

Schalke are battling Anzhi for the unsettled Russia international.

And they are now are ready to offer Arsenal the chance to swap Arshavin for Jefferson Farfan.

According to reports in Germany, the Bundesliga side are desperate not to lose Farfan for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season - and he is unlikely to sign a new deal.

But Schalke will not sell the Peruvian forward, 27, in January unless they can secure a replacement.

Belgian clubs are chasing Arsenal midfielder Oğuzhan Özyakup.

Özyakup is interesting Belgian Champions Racing Genk.

The 19-year-old is a long-term target of the Pro League side, who tried to buy him last summer, when negotiations over a new contract at Arsenal initially broke down.

Now, manager Mario Been, who worked with Gunners winger Ryo Miyaichi whilst at Feyenoord last term, is keen to sign Özyakup on loan until the end of the season.

The Daily Mail says Arsene Wenger's search for further midfield recruits has taken him to Portugal where Benfica's Javi Garcia has been scouted by Arsenal.

Arsenal and Liverpool are being linked with Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega.

The Daily Mail says Wigan have told Rodallega they want his future resolved before the transfer window opens in January.

The £15million-rated striker is wanted by Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus and his current deal runs out next summer.

But the Colombian, 26, is dragging his heels with Wigan looking like relegation candidates and clubs prepared to snap him up at the end of the season for free.

West Ham United are in talks to take an Arsenal defender on-loan.

Hammers vice-chairman Karren Brady has confirmed negotiations in her diary for The Sun.

"Now we are close to agreement with Arsenal for a foreign defender.

"The problem is this could disqualify him from a permanent move abroad in January and another move bites the dust."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to step up his pursuit for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The People says the Gunners are keeping tabs on Pogba’s situation at Manchester United – and will swoop if a new contract is not agreed soon.

Pogba,18, was a Gunners target when he joined United from French side Le Havre in 2009.

The midfielder’s current deal runs out in June, and he has yet to commit himself to United – although Sir Alex Ferguson is sure to fight to keep him at Old Trafford.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will try to get his own back on Barcelona this summer by nabbing FOUR of their young stars.

But Wenger will have to do battle with Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas to land Sergio Roberto, 19, Martin Montoya, 20, Marc Bartra, 20, and Rafa Alcantara, 18, says the Daily Star Sunday.

Villas-Boas has identified his new targets with the help of Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo, who set up a Spanish network.

But Wenger has had scouts watching Brazilian-born midfielder Alcantara and right-back Montoya for the past 18 months – and is ready to snap the pair up in January, or at the close of the current campaign.

Montoya’s contract with the Catalan side ends in the summer and his agent Jose Maria Orobitg says the player is keen to discuss a move to England.

Orobitg said: “In January we could talk with other teams – and I say could because we are still talking about renewing a deal with Barca.”

The Arsenal hitman has scored twice in seven matches since joining Bruce’s side at the end of August, says the People.

Arsenal will ask for around £9m for the big Dane, but Sunderland still have money to spend despite splashing out in the summer.

Everton are competing with Arsenal for FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea.

The Mirror says Everton boss David Moyes is chasing United States international Shea - as he looks to boost his squad with bargains.

Moyes flew to France to watch the highly-rated FC Dallas defender in action at the weekend and he is interested in recruiting him if the price is right.

Shea has been invited for trials at Arsenal, but if Arsene Wenger does not sign him Everton may step in and make an offer to the MLS.
