Arsenal Chiefs Convinced Arsene Will Spend.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to splash out an unprecedented £60 million this summer.
60 million...yen?
The Daily Express says enquiries have been made for Bolton and Blackburn defenders Gary Cahill and Chris Samba, and Lille duo Gervinho and Eden Hazard. Wenger is also bidding to beat United to Southampton kids Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Luke Shaw. As well as supposedly being close to Willian from Shakhtar
It is not thought Wenger expects to sign all of his targets, but the Arsenal boss is anxious not to get left behind by his rivals. England defender Cahill has a £17m release clause in his Bolton contract and the fee has not put Arsenal off his trail, but they know they could face competition for him from Manchester City.
“Arsene currently has his fingers in an awful lot of pies and it is now just a case of waiting to see what will come off,” said a Gunners source. “It is not money or transfer fees that are going to stop anything, it depends on the players and what other choices they might have."
Yes... I do know what the f*** I'm doing thank you very much.
IN ARSENE WE TRUST!!!!

A 17m price tag on Cahill makes me laugh so hard.
More English and EPL players, however, are good news.
This is going to be one interesting summer period.

Firstly, it doesn't sound very plausible
Secondly, that would be a waste of 60 million pounds imo. We'd be doing like Juventus: Buying several players that are above average at best instead of focusing on the best. Look where that got them; nowhere.

said a Gunners source.
Yeah. That's totally reliable.
I commented on this story in the summer transfer thread. Basically, I feel this report just sticks together a bunch of names we've been heavily linked with and claims that we're going to sign all of them in light of United and Liverpool doing significant early business.
Problem is, Wenger is stingy about money and even stingier about which players he will sign and how many. It betrays common sense for him to sign both Samba and Cahill when he was three defenders in their mid-twenties all on long term deals - neither of which are bad defenders at all. It just wouldn't be prudent to spend £27,000,000 combined on two centre backs when we really only need one.
Arsenal will probably sign Gervinho. This will effect any potential Hazard deal. Lille will desperately want to hang on to Hazard after losing one of their best players, so they'll increase his price. Wenger simply won't pay the price Lille are asking for.
Which isn't the end of the world, since we've indentified alternatives.

BS. Arsene will spend a bit, sure, but no way will he spend 60m. He'd rather retire. The only way he'd spend big on one player is if someone like Benzema were available.

This should be posted in the transfer RUMOURS section.

would make no sense to buy samba aND cahill, neither of which are such a huge improvement...Would make more sense to stick out the money nd look for some experienced quality CB...idk where to get em tho...

Arsenal has 40 million to spend that includes the players wages, we would be lucky if wenger gets more then 2 players.
