Totti celebrates 35th birthday
Tuesday 27 September, 2011
Totti celebrates 35th birthday
Francesco Totti celebrates his 35th birthday today and, amid tributes from Roma, jokes he’ll keep playing “for another 10 years.”
The captain was greeted by supporters bringing gifts and above all hanging banners wishing him many happy returns at the Trigoria training ground today.
A fan asked if he would play another five years. “Five? How about 10,” smiled Totti.
The official Giallorossi website released a statement marking the occasion.
“September 27, the day of his birth, has for a few years now been a day of celebration for all Roma fans, but not just them. Francesco is not just the symbol of the club, but also one of the greatest players in Italian and international football.
“It’s a source of true pride to have always had him with us, the Giallorossi jersey stitched into his being. This is his 20th season in the main squad.
“Totti is without doubt or discussion the number one in the history of this team. We all wish him a happy birthday, hoping to see him score and celebrate with Roma in his heart for a long time to come.”

Re: Totti celebrates 35th birthday
Francesco Totti celebrated his birthday on Tuesday and partying broke out at Trigoria. More than one hundred fifty people came to the sports center to celebrate the giallorossi number 10. Many banners and choirs. After training, Totti found a table filled with trays of pizza, porchetta, coca cola and aranciata. The captain even had a thought for the new President Thomas Dibenedetto and sent to the meeting room, where the new president was being officially named, two slices of pizza, one red and one with mortadella. DiBenedetto appreciated the gesture very much and Dr. Cappelli, lawyer and interim president of Roma pointed out that it was a Roma specialty.
Many compliments and best wishes were sent to the captain. Among the many phone calls and text messages was that of Franco Baldini, and the captain seemed to have appreciated the gesture.
Francesco then, through its website, thanked everyone: "The fans are always the best: from the early morning at training at Trigoria, they have made this day beautiful with their songs, banners and especially for me with their presence. What would be a sport without them? And the giallorossi fans, I never tire of saying, are simply unique. "Then the point on the psycho-physical situation: "Thirty-five years, how to accumulate but not feel them. In these days I feel fit and in good athletic condition: it is strange (but beautiful!) to learn and to observe that time does not weaken one. On the contrary I feel tempered: even on the pitch I feel that I could run more and press my opponents more than in the past. The key to all this is to be stimulated and have the desire; one's will is power, in sports and in all of life's challenges." In the evening, best wished also came from Thomas DiBenedetto on Roma Channel: "Happy birthday to you, 100 of these days."
