Cristiano's biggest mistake...
Is moving to Real.
His ultimate goal is clearly beating Messi, despite what he keeps saying and we all know it.His personal battle is very much dependent on Real - Barca duel, which has been giving Messi the upper hand ever since. At Manchester not only he would avoid the handicap of that direct duel, but he would also be playing in an arguably more competitive league compared to La Liga.
Manchester was far more competitive in Europe as well in recent years, and imagine them having Cristiano on the wing rather than old Giggs and then yet unpolished diamond Nani. Not to mention last seasons finals where Cristiano could have been a crucial figure.Ferguson didn't trust Nani enough to keep discipline so he started Valencia, who missed most of last season through injury and was barely even noticed on the field.Park started on the left and Giggs in the center...Cristiano could have given Ferguson far more options. He could have even started in attack with alongside Rooney instead of Chicharito, but I shouldn't go into butterfly effect now.
Anyhow, winning with Manchester would certainly bring him more points in eyes of the viewers and governing bodies over the individual awards than being chronically second to Messi's Barcelona.Even in the same scenario where Manchester loses the CL final to Barcelona...He's still young and physically superior not only to Messi but to any other player IMO,which means he'll probably last longer despite being older.I feel Real will be far more competitive from now on,but it doesn't cancel out the fact he missed out on a lot in these two years he spent at Real rather than Manchester.
Cristiano-Messi debates and league wars would be much more exciting now...Classico's ruining everything

Re: Cristiano's biggest mistake...
I don't really agree. Manchester United doesn't need him. They are already the best team in england without him and I honestly think Man U has improved enough this season if they face off against barca in the champions league again this season I think they can beat them. Madrid needs him a lot more than Man U and plus he makes the La Liga race more interesting imo.

Yeah but that is not the point of the thread.
I was looking from Cristiano's perspective, whether he would be more competitive to Messi.Ronaldo's mistake, not Manchesters mistake. And I believe despite being strong they would certainly be stronger with Ronaldo in the team rather than not.

Re: Cristiano's biggest mistake...
Messi beat him everywhere, in M.U, in R.Madrid, In Portugal (WC 2010). So theres no way he can compete with Messi, even he wins CL voters would vote for Messi
And Messi is not winning individual awards because of goals, 3 years ago he became second in FIFA ballon Dor award with only 16 goals and being injured 2 months. CR became first thanks CL award and 42 goals. Now imagine Messi with 53 goals 26 assists, so i think theres no way to beat messi with these stats and performance. What CR needs is to show a performance not titles, as Messi became second 3 years ago with no titles, and again last season won the ballon dor without titles

Re: Cristiano's biggest mistake...
They are a lot of IFs. What if RM kept Robben and Sneijder, and played VDV at AM more frequntly?
There is certainly truth in your words, vibe. Ronaldo in the end of the day looks worse than Lionel, as RM keeps losing battles to Blaugrana. Another thing is number of stars surrounding him, he is still the best player in the team, but he gets less credit for it than he got in United

Doesn't matter what team he's in, Messi is better than Ronaldo.

Re: Cristiano's biggest mistake...
Yeah they both were playing for the NT. Messi became top-10 list CR didnt. So it proves that if they both won nothing messi still would be above him, even if cr scores messi doesnt again messi becomes above him (WC 2010). the reason is performance not goalsGanso wrote:billionmillion wrote:Messi beat him everywhere, in M.U, in R.Madrid, In Portugal (WC 2010). Not to defend what Nick is saying, but how can you honestly pretend to be stopping people hating on our own players when youre fighting with one of our own too? We dont need this. Go insult a cule if you feel frustrated and want to take it out.
