Chelsea are one of two English clubs being linked with a 42million euro (£34.7million) summer move for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.

Spanish daily newspaper Marca reports today that two Premier League clubs are interested in making a summer bid for the Argentine who only moved to the Bernabeu from Portugese side Benfica two years ago.

Coach Jose Mourinho is happy with di Maria in his side while the player himself is said to be settled in Madrid, however there is a dispute over a pay rise that he was promised when he moved from Benfica in 2010 and which has still not materialised. At the time that he signed for Real, di Maria – who earns around 2million euro after tax (around £35,000 a week) – was promised a pay rise if he put in a good performance during his first season with the club. Halfway through his second season and the pay rise has not been granted, something that has put the English clubs on alert.

Di Maria arrived in a 25million euro deal (about £20million at the time) and is valued by Marca at around 42million euro. He has made 73 appearances for Real in all competitions and while these have brought 14 goals, crucially he has provided 33 assists.

if he wants to leave that is fine by me. he is not irreplaceable.

i dont think he will leave though, his pay will be adjusted but he is going about it the wrong way he needs to keep his head down and focus on winning.

i dont think he wants to leave but this is the medias job...remember Ramos and Higuain how they were rumoured to leaving when they couldnt agree on the wage...same here

how about lets consider the winter break, most teams come back like shite we are no exception, its obvious alot of our players look slow, out of pace, out of form. this isnt because di maria isnt playing.
