It's all about the contracts dude......what you cost to the club........ie Mesut was signed for about $10 million while DI Maria was singed for about $30 million...

when you add up what they cost to the club over a 5 year period......Mesut costs the club around $35 million and Di Maria costs the club around the same.

you guys arent thinking of it rationally, you have to consider marketability as well as exposure.

di maria is not nearly as recognizable, marketable, as kaka at the time that they each signed contracts. tbh kaka was an established WC player very low risk, di maria not very established much more of a risk on paper but we all know how di maria has out preformed kaka.

di maria has plenty of years to increase his salary.

also i dont think di maria has too many sponsorships. ozil is huge in germany as far as comercials go.

i dont care if dimaria isnt as marketable as kaka, what he is doing on the pitch is what makes people watch our team, the only guys worthy of their salary are ronaldo and casillas, the rest either needs more or significantly less

poor dimaria making nearly as much as granero, while our bench players gets 11 and 5 respectively....isnt jorge mendes his agent??? what is he doing just dissapearing like that

why isnt callejon getting more then??? he was signed for less than 2 if i am not mistaken, maybe he should be our highest payed player so that over a five year period would cost the club the same amount as ozil and dimaria

and also if he continues his streak he will have done more than what ozil did in his entire last season ffs

Yeah and he whined to the press about this "promise". IMO bitching to the media about your contract is one of the stupidest things you can do at Madrid. In a way Angel is lucky he's still here. In any other era besides the Mou era he would have been sold.

The club is squeezing his balls a little for talking about things that shouldn't be made public. They'll increase his wage, but had he shut his mouth his wage would have gone up already.

Angelito tried to play the press and gain the upper hand in negotiations through the press. That doesn't fly here and he's lucky the board didn't sell him. More often than not the club doesn't want to deal with players who act that way.

He'll get his (deserved) raise soon enough, no need for you to be his white knight.

I believe Di Maria did not directly asked for more wages. he's actually a humble guy, however his agent is trying to convince RM's board to increase Di Maria's wage based on his brilliant performance in these 2 seasons.

Chelsea are one of two English clubs being linked with a 42million euro (£34.7million) summer move for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.

Spanish daily newspaper Marca reports today that two Premier League clubs are interested in making a summer bid for the Argentine who only moved to the Bernabeu from Portugese side Benfica two years ago.

Coach Jose Mourinho is happy with di Maria in his side while the player himself is said to be settled in Madrid, however there is a dispute over a pay rise that he was promised when he moved from Benfica in 2010 and which has still not materialised. At the time that he signed for Real, di Maria – who earns around 2million euro after tax (around £35,000 a week) – was promised a pay rise if he put in a good performance during his first season with the club. Halfway through his second season and the pay rise has not been granted, something that has put the English clubs on alert.

Di Maria arrived in a 25million euro deal (about £20million at the time) and is valued by Marca at around 42million euro. He has made 73 appearances for Real in all competitions and while these have brought 14 goals, crucially he has provided 33 assists.
