Most effective player of the season (stats).

An assist for an earned penalty would make sense. But I still think the guy who earned it should take it.

When your looking at some of these guys going after records for goal scoring etc it's just a shame they get the credit for what others achieved on the field unless of course they won most of the penalties.

I would love to know how many of the penalties Ronaldo or Ibra won because I may be hammering them for no reason.

why would they follow your rule lol. teams dont come with the mentality of making a said player the most effective or increasing another player's goal tally unless they have nothing to play for.. ronaldo takes them because he is damn good at it and he has hardly given cause to think of the contrary

Well football do alot of things and have alot of rules which dont really make sense, simply out of stubborn tradition and that sort of thing would be one of them.

I think what you said is a great idea and actually, more fair.

Also think a player shouldnt autmoatically recieve a red card, simply because he gave away a penalty. If it was a dangerous tackle then fair enough, but to punish someone with a red and the team with a penalty seems too much sometimes.

I'm not saying teams should follow the rule of course they wouldn't and I wouldn't either if I were them I would have Ronaldo march up there and bang them in all day as well.

I'm saying football in general should let the guy who won the penalty take it. I don't know how anyone could argue with that, it's the fair thing to do and it makes sense. This isn't meant to slam on Ronaldo as I have been saying this for years. I also think there should be an agreed upon size of the pitch.

BTW, I think the same things for other sports too.

Like I think it's insane in baseball that some fences are 330 feet and others are 400 feet. I mean in one park the hit is just a long pop fly and in the other it's a home run, I mean how badly does that skew the numbers if you play in a shallow field and baseball claims to be all about statistics it's stupid.

Not to mention they make the managers wear uniforms in baseball the single stupidest rule on earth. Could you imagine SAF or Redknapp sitting on the bench in a uniform with cleats and everything. How hilarious would that be?

Stats don't mean enough to alter a rule like that just to statistically even out players, stats are skewed anyway, if you wanna credit an assist to the guy who earned the penalty that's reasonable, but telling a team who can and cannot take a penalty is unfair.

It'll encourage BS, professional fouls inside the box, all sorts of things , I just don't think the fact that it imbalances a couple stats is enough to alter the game.

Basketball is a bit different for the sheer number of free throws given a game.A penalty isn't a free throw, it can make or break you(in most cases ) free throws can do so as well, but it just isn't the same to me.

The only thing that rule would do would be that defenders will think "hey, this guy can't shoot to save his life, I can be extra rough on him" and the problem it will fix is not of any great importance.

BTW, if you look at things this way:

Ronaldo: La Liga: 28 goals in 23 matches; CL: 3 goals in 4 matches
Messi: La Liga: 27 goals in 23 matches; CL: 7 goals in 6 matches
Gomez: Bundesliga: 18 goals in 22 matches; CL: 6 goals in 6 matches

This would suggest to me that the enourmous number of goals scored by Ronaldo and Messi in the league are more due to bad defenses there, or they should be far ahead in the CL as well.

Ronaldo's 11 penalties are going to win major awards this year.
