New Roma convince Kjaer
Simon Kjaer believes that Roma have the squad and the project to challenge at the top of Serie A this season.
The Dane is one of numerous new faces at the Stadio Olimpico after a change of ownership and Coach during the summer.
“As far as I am concerned, Roma can even get to the top of the table,” the centre-back commented.
“We will need a bit of time though because a lot of new players have arrived. We’ll be able to assess our real quality and strength after 10-15 games.
“Roma have to try to qualify for Europe. Even if it will be difficult against great rivals like Milan, Inter and Juventus, we can do it.”
The international stopper is back in Italy just a season after he left Palermo for German outfit Wolfsburg.
“It was a great experience for me at Wolfsburg,” he continued. “Things didn’t go well though. There was a great plan which didn’t work.
“Once I heard about the possibility of returning to Italy I immediately took up the chance to join Roma.
“There is a great project here. A lot of players have arrived, the average age of the side is low but there are players with experience like Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.”
Kjaer arrives at the club with no guarantee of a first team jersey.
“I know that Juan and Nicolas Burdisso are the first choices,” he added. “I’ll work hard in an effort to find some space.
“I’m young, but I believe in myself. I just have to show my quality in training and I’ll be ready when I’m needed.”

Very humble from what we've seen so far. He knows that he has a lot of work ahead of him and despite being favoured to start this Sunday, he knows that he'll have to constantly fight for his spot in the starting 11 with Burdisso and Juan especially, but also with Cassetti and Heinze.
