Conte: 'I earned Juventus job'
Antonio Conte is “honoured” to be the new Coach of Juventus, but also points out he “earned this opportunity. United, we will rise again.”
The former midfielder was a legend for the fans and has returned to Turin as a tactician, despite very little experience of Serie A.
“It is a great honour for me to be the Coach of Juventus and I hope beginning this adventure in our new stadium can be a good omen,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am not afraid of responsibility, as even in my playing career I always expected the utmost from myself. Being the Juventus boss is something very special and I’m well aware of that.
“I am very happy to have gone through my experiences and can honestly say I earned this opportunity at Juve. Coming here is a dream come true, but it’s also a starting point rather than a finish line.
“Many talked about my supposed 4-2-4 tactics, but the truth is it’s a slightly modified approach to the 4-4-2 that covers the whole field. Some sides in England already use it.”
Juve are among the contenders for the Scudetto this season, although last term they failed to even qualify for Europe.
“We are coming off two consecutive seventh-place finishes, but we want to achieve great things. I have an excellent rapport with President Andrea Agnelli, who used to come and see me even when I was a player, while things are also going well with director general Beppe Marotta.
“Working with Alessandro Del Piero and Gigi Buffon is a great privilege for me. The presence of Alex in the squad as captain is an essential reference point.
“We are aware that this season we must try to build something important. It won’t be easy, but if we share the same objectives, then I think things will go our way.”

Re: Conte: 'I earned Juventus job'
I am not so sure if that is true, if it wasn't for his legacy would he have this job?
With the funds available a higher profile manager would surely have been aimed for.
That is with all due respect to Conte, I am just saying, embrace your Juventus legacy and it very well may have earned you the position now earn your stay as a manager and write a new story

Re: Conte: 'I earned Juventus job'
+1 to what Luca said.
Juventus has made 3 gambles in a row, first Ferrara, then Del Neri, now Conte.
i REALLY hope Conte pays off, i feel now its up to Conte's hands to bring back juventus. At least he'll make juventus have (probably) winning mentality and dont hold back.
