Moyes told his club's official website: "Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal if a bid came in.
"I am very disappointed to lose him but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn't able to offer him."
long serving manager...tradition, but bad financial state forcing them to sell...you just cannot not feel bad for them : /

In light of the transfer window i have become a selfish w*nker who only cares about himself and could'nt give a rats ass about anyone.....

Let's put it this way that I don't feel bad for Everton FC but I do a little for a few individuals there, Moyes being one of them.
If you look at their team in the Fantasy Premier League they've got five defenders to choose from xD
With Arteta gone, you also are wondering a little who is going to be pulling the strings in attack.

In a way I would say they are lucky. They are lucky that this deal happened right before the window closed, because now they can stabilise.
As a result of his stature within the team, had Arteta left mid-window it could have sparked a mass exodus of their best players. Could have lost Cahill and Fellaini and then they would have possibly become relegation fodder.
Moyes is a good manager, he will get the best out of what he has left and Everton will stay up but possibly miss out Europe.

that's not half bad m8 . great goalkeeper, one of the best LB , wicked pace on the wings, if they play both fellaini and rodwell they have steel in the midfield and Cahill and Saha are clinical

Gutted for them. Arteta put in a transfer request on the last day so they had absolutely no chance of getting a replacement. He was their creative spark, and without him, they are gonna struggle to score goals so badly. Plus they sold Beckford too..who have they got? A barely fit Saha + Cahill, that's not good enough at the highest level.
They already struggle to score goals even when they had Arteta, without him, they are gonna be in a relegation fight this season.
