Group A will be decided at Home
sorry for creating a new thread...but i think it was a little different topic from the other topics of group a.
group a is imo very balanced, although with city as the slightly safest bet of the 4 to progress. i think this group will be determinded on how each teams fare at front of their own fans. I think Napoli can win their 3 home games, so can Bayern, Man City and Villareal, but I doubt any of these teams can win each other away.
For the first time in many years Big teams HAVE TO WIN AT HOME at all cost, or else they don't stand much chance.
Man City - Villareal = City win
Man City - Bayern = City win
Man City - Napoli = City win
Bayern - Villareal = Bayern win
Bayern - Man City = Bayern win
Bayern - Napoli = Bayern win
Napoli - Villareal = Napoli win
Napoli - Bayern = Napoli win
Napoli - Man City = Napoli win
Villareal - Bayern = Villareal win
Villareal - Man City = Villareal win
Villareal - Napoli = Villareal win
so this is how the standing could look like (random):
1. Villareal - 9 points
2. Napoli - 9 points
3. Bayern - 9 points
4. Man City - 9 points
so goal difference and away goals may as well decide this group
....
looking forward to this and i hope it's at tight as it looks like

Re: Group A will be decided at Home
You are being disrepectful to Bayern and watch how we'll prove you wrong.
But however we love it like that, we like being under-dogg cos it reduces the pressure

Re: Group A will be decided at Home
no i am not disrespecting bayern. are telling me man city is not strongest team on paper in this group?
villareal and bayern and napoli is imo very close. i have seen before how bayern have screwed up. bordeaux 2 years ago comes to mind. absolutely bayern is a great team, but there are times when they are really shakey, specially in the start of the season. and villareal is a really strong team, people underrate or dont rate them because they don't stand a chance against barca madrid in the league, but in europe they can give any other top team a run for their money. i think the same aplies to napoli. u saw what a midtable team like udinese did to arsenal, then think about napoli who was arguably on par with milan last season. this is not the europa league, so i don't think napoli will open their legs and sleep. expect a fiorentina from napoli.
taking these facts into consideration i say this group is very unpredictable, sure Bayern is the historic powerhouse of this group, but on paper all teams are, more or less, equal.

On Paper Bayern has a much stronger first team from Goal keeper to striker than Man city, I agree that Man City have a lots of good players but they can't all play at thesame time.
I mean name a single first team position than you think City is better than Bayern.
Also you can't compare Villarreal and Napolli with Bayern, they stand a change but Bayern is much more better, yeah you mentioned Bordeaux 2 years ago but have you also forgotten that Bayern got to Champions league final that year with a weaker squad and terrible defence. Also don't forget the rejuvenation of Mario Gomez it makes Bayen much more deadly than their attack of 2010
Re: Group A will be decided at Home
yeah but that year bayern reaching cl, was much more due to luck, am not underrating bayern, but seems to me after that season everyone is overrating bayern.
i know bayern have 1 of the best goalkeepers in the world.
but their defence is not that great, teams like villareal, napoli and city can easily score on bayern.
medfield is great, but not too great, if you frustrate robben and schweinsteiger, bayern don't have much firepower.
attack is good with the likes of muller and gomez, but depends too much on the medfield magic of robben and schweini. I don't rate ribbery that high. imo he is past it, and i don't know what people see in this guy to label it robbery. it's more robben only.
but agree on thing with ya. it's really easy to underrate teams of this group, exactly because it's a dynamite group. eacch team have world class talent that could play in any top team in the world.
robben, neuer, schweini, tevez, balotelli, dzeko, silva, cavani, lavezzi, hamsik, guisseppe rossi and so on. it's really star galore. lucky people who live in these cities haha

Clearly you have little knowledge about Bayern, well I think the best thing is that we wait.

Magic of scwheini, serioulsy when was the last time you watched Bayern Match...?
Magics only comes from Ribbery and Robben.

Re: Group A will be decided at Home
@Boywonder, Schweini alone makes such a huge difference, he makes opponent's attackers useless. Man City can't stop him even with 2 DMs
They'll park the bus for sure. If they manage to score on counters then props to them but Bayern will dictate the game. Napoli and Villarreal have nothing on Bayern
Which team do you support? Your opinions are like the ones of a premface

Re: Group A will be decided at Home
City vs Bayern on paper...thr only positions City is stronger in is Aguero > Muller, and Yaya > Gustavo. Also, Ribery and Silva are on the same level, but Robben is better than Silva. And Dzeko in his Wolfsburg form is better than Gomez, but Dzeko hasnt hut anything close to his Wolfsburg form yet for City. Bayern definitely have the stronger team, both on paper and on the field. Still, this is one lf tbe greatest groups in a long time. Itll be awesome to watch.

Re: Group A will be decided at Home
It comes down to one guy actually, no need to compare the whole roster. Piggy, do they have an answer to him?Ganso wrote:Robben>Aguero is debatable
Throw Kroos instead of Muller in the mix and they won't be able to overcome a piggy+Gustavo+Kroos midfield
They can have all the forwards in the world, as long as they're cut off from supplies they'll be useless

Frightens me to think what Leverkusen and Dortmunds squads are like then. Thank god we avoided them in the draw today.

You can wish all you want but the two clear fact about this group is
1 Bayern will progress regardless of anything
2 Napoli will not progress no matter how hard they try, Europa the best they can get
Re: Group A will be decided at Home
Alright, ill do this the right way.
Neuer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hart.
Lahm >>>> Clichy.
Boateng = VB = Kompany > Badstuber = Kolo.
Rafinha > Richards.
Schweini >>>>>> (Nasri) = Yaya > Gustavo >/= Barry >/= De Jong
Robben > Aguero = Tevez = Ribery = Silva >/= (Nasri) = Muller >>> Kroos = Balotelli > Johnson.
Gomez >> Dzeko.
And remember that Citydoesnt usually start Tevez, and sometimes even starts Johnson, which weakens them quite a bit. Even if they did field their strongest squad though, Bayern would be noticeably stronger.
