Re: La Liga strike
Wow. Just read up on it in various articles and the situation is bad.
Basically, the players are owed over 50 million in unpaid wages. The players' association main request to start the season is the following:
- That no teams who lack the cash to finish the season be allowed to participate in La Liga or CDR
- If the league wants to let these insolvent teams play, they need to set up a fund to guarantee the payment of the wages to the players
Two problems:
- The league does not have enough money to create the fund to guarantee wages
- There are up 10 (yes i said TEN) teams in La Liga that are insolvent... that doesn't even include Segunda. So La Liga cannot even function without all these teams
Only way this is to reach some kind of understanding that the issues will be resolved by a hard deadline in the future. I don't see any other way to unblock the strike unless some teams/people contribute to create the fund the league needs.
The damning thing is that the league has known this for over 6 months! What a bunch of corrupt incompetents.

Re: La Liga strike
Looks like the strike may be over later today. They were in meetings until past 5am this morning starting yesterday pm... seem to have reached an agreement.
Weekend games should be on.
