Possible strike upcoming in La Liga
to start the season
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2011/20110811_171710_casillas-on-ne-jouera-pas.html
Iker Casillas basically says that the players will not play unless an agreement is reached with the players' union. He's standing up for the less known professionals... one of the main issues is the setup of a fund to guarantee the wages of players in case of bankruptcy. A lot of players were left with a lot of monies' owed in Segunda last year alone due to bankruptcy.
Stand up guy. Not sure how quickly this can be resolved. La Liga may start later as a result.

Casillas wasn't the only one. They had 150 players and the front row was Casillas, Xabi Alonso and Puyol. The liga is giving their usually distain for this, so we have to wait to see what happens.
As you said in the La liga thread, most teams are having financial issues, so the players' concern are very real. Apparently this is the only major league that doesn't have player salaries covered in the even of Bankrupcy.

I really do support the players, good that they're standing up against the monkeys that seem to run the spanish league.
Spanish clubs are slowly falling one by one especially those in segunda. The players wages are a start, it will at least make them focus on playing. It will only take a serious disaster though to really go and fix the league.

They need to reform the financial and managerial structure in la liga. C'mon, TV money It's not even funny, then stupid managers who run clubs into ruin are given free hand...

Media revenue sharing is a must. That's the most stable cash flow stream since they are 5-10 year forward contracts. Reason all these clubs are failing is because they are so dependent on tickets+merchandising sales... they just got destroyed with the recession. No league can have good balance and survive unless there's good revenue sharing. Simple as that.

Re: Possible strike upcoming in La Liga
I understand and support the players, but disagree with the very nature of a collective strike in any business (ex. Real Madrid, who always pay their players, are getting punished because Hercules didn't). Of course, as a fan, I hope that this doesnt affect La Liga so I hope they clear it up fast.
Spain like the rest of Europe has many economic problems and this reflects in football. There are many things wrong in Spanish Football, but this particular situation calls for a complete financial reform, fixing the TV rights thing and the players salaries. We dont want it affecting the football calendar either.
