Re: The Official Mata Thread
Plus if we wanted to get Rooney we could get him for less than 20m with his contract expiring next summer but we could sell Mata for more.

I understand PSG, but we don't need him at Bayern, would just move from one bench to another.

If I could hand pick a team for him to end up at, it'd be them.

Same, I doubt they could afford him though.

Still not sure Chelsea would be stupid enough to commit suicide by transfer. However, he's not called the "Mad Russian" for nothing

Mad maybe, but not stupid. The club would sooner accept a lesser bid from a foreign side than willfully strengthen a rival, a la your very own Mr. Levy re Modric a few years back.

If that is 37m + RVP and Rooney, perhaps. If that is 37m alone.
No.

If Mourinho did not give Demba Ba to Arsenal, I really doubt he will sell Mata to Man Utd.

Re: The Official Mata Thread
People are also forgetting the impact it would have on Chelsea this season. Yes, he's been slightly on the periphery since Mourinho returned, but we're still well in the hunt for 3 trophies and his presence in the squad gives vital depth in what will be an increasingly congested schedule. The sale of De Bruyne virtually ensures no one else will go this month for me, as while we once had ample, ample options in AM, his sale would - although it sounds almost strange to say - leave us light in that department. Him leaving this month = only Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Schurrle — 4 players for 3 spots in the team, for 3 fronts. Not gonna happen.

Even under that premise, same applies. If whoever's in charge of transfers wouldn't even allow Ba, our worst striker, on loan to Arsenal, why would they sell Mata, our 2-time Player of the Year, to United?

Re: The Official Mata Thread
I don't think you will sell him to us but I don't think it's that ridiculous. It's clear he's for sale but I can't think of anyone else other than Atletico (can't see them shelling out 30+m) or maybe PSG being interested. It's not like he's spoiled for suitors.

Personally I would like Mata to go to Man Utd. Man Utd are in desperate need of reinforcements and a strong Man Utd side means a stronger Premier League. Also Man Utd are a club with a caliber that Mata deserves to go to. If Mata leaves within the next ten days, then we will need to buy an adequate replacement for him within the next ten days. These two things happening are not out of the question, given much weirder things have happened with Chelsea transfers.
In addition, I do not buy the fact that Chelsea are unwilling to sell Mata to Man Utd for the right price.

Re: The Official Mata Thread
even if mourinho isn't In charge of transfers, he will have a significant say on the decision of selling mata to another team. If there is a strong possibility that united are to get their hands on our mata, I am sure we will try to pull something from the deal to get Rooney this summer. But all in all, I highly doubt that we will sell our 2 time player of the season to a rival, even if they are severely weak at present.

We're not going to sell him in Jan. If anyone thinks otherwise, they're idiots.

Re: The Official Mata Thread
What? Mata would be a starter basically anywhere.
Madrid, Ateltico, PSG, Monaco, perhaps not Bayern or Barca but everywhere else.
Why send him to Utd?
