Re: Rival thread
being over optimstic, I will say a draw but the more I think it seems better if Spurs be as away from us as possible, so Spurs getting thrashed may be a good result being realistic.Art Morte wrote:Walcott and Ramsey are big misses for them, but they've got good depth anyway. Good that they didn't beat Southampton, though.
I'm undecided as to what result I'd like in the Totham v Mancity game tonight..

Better chop one than keep both dangling. Also, with Spurs shadowing us while City some daylight away, a City win will serve us nicely.

Re: Rival thread
the truth is they are not daylight ahead of us, they are just four points ahead of us as of now and if they draw it will be 5 points. As I said before, finishing 2nd or 3rd will be a massive statement from us after the slump of last 5 yearsiftikhar wrote:HEIL MEIN REDS wrote:being over optimstic, I will say a draw but the more I think it seems better if Spurs be as away from us as possible, so Spurs getting thrashed may be a good result being realistic.Art Morte wrote:Walcott and Ramsey are big misses for them, but they've got good depth anyway. Re: Rival thread
City aren't our rivals, we're not going to win/fight for the league.
City winning would be the best possible result for us as they're a genuine threat to getting top 4.

Need city to win, can't stand arsenal or chelsea winning the league. Plus 4th is our most realistic option , we need spurs to drop as much points as possible, for the "shit" season that spurs are having, were on equal points.

I might prefer a draw, still. It would have a little feel-good factor to it if City don't completely run away from us.

Re: Rival thread
Why?
We're not catching up to City and Spurs would remain a threat to our top 4 ambition. We need Spurs to drop points. Especially with United winning and getting momentum back with the Mata signing and RvP+Rooney back from injury.

Re: Rival thread
Well that's another thing, I think United are still a bigger top-4 threat to us than Tottenham. From that perspective it doesn't really matter what Tottenham do.

Re: Rival thread
But Tottenham can (both possibly and realistically) still finish above us so they're still also a threat to us...

Pray for Everton. They got to take those points from Spurs and Chelsea.

Re: Rival thread
To be honest, Lukaku has only 1 goal in last 10 league games, it was probably the time to give someone else a chance anyway.

Great week.
Shortest month of the year and we play Arsenal twice in it.

Re: Rival thread
Could have watched 7 or 6 goal games (Villa v Brom or Totham v City), but watched the only goalless game... Well, don't really mind, the result made me happy, that's two points dropped by Chelsea. And Tottenham didn't do any catching up with us. Hard to believe that a team with a minus one goal-difference after 23 games is still fighting for a CL place.

Re: Rival thread
Unbelievable really, evreyone getting fooled by Spurs by their league position. I still think ManUtd or Everton are bigger threats for 4th place than Spurs

I think United are our biggest threat tbh. Not too much worried about Everton and Spurs (although they still have a chance).

I feel sorry for Aguero. Can't catch a break with all these injuries.
Jovetic finally played. We should attempt to loan him to get him back into "match fitness" with an option to buy.

Re: Rival thread
We have a 3 point lead over 5th spot, and a +30 goal difference to Spurs..........
If we didn't do these experiments away from home, we'd be up there with Chelsea/City/Arsenal.
Let's just hope United don't steal the 4th spot. They're the biggest threat to us, but Spurs and Everton DO have a chance to sneak up in the top 4.

Re: Rival thread
I don't think anyone is going to catch City for the title so I've given up on that this season, hoping they beat all of our other rivals so we can finish second.
We can also catch up to Arsenal and even surpass them if we beat them at Anfield with their ridiculously hard schedule coming up.
