Re: Rival thread
Good for him. Always liked him, so long as he doesn't score against us I wish him well at Arsenal.

He has not only settled there but now Arsenal is playing to his strength now. Salue to Wenger the way he manages all of them to play together. Giroud provides them variation in their attack; which was not there when RVP was there, I guess.

Re: Rival thread
Couldn't agree more. I always thought that Giroud, while definitely a departure from the "Arsenal mold" of striker, could be a very good move for them. Just as you said, he offers a very different dimension to their attack. I would actually argue that they are a more complete team now than they were with RVP. Unfortunately for them, they are on a bad run of form and are prone to "stupid" mistakes.HEIL MEIN REDS wrote:ynwa wrote:In another news, it looks as if Giroud has finally settled in the PL.

@ Nish, hahaha about Arsenal comment
Everton, Kevin Mirallas and Tony Hibbert, seem to be injured , stoke away...
Swansea can give a sweet surprise in the weekend
this is a good chance, which will boost our confidence for next at least 2-3 matches

Re: Rival thread
United playing a weird 4-4-2 diamond / 5-3-2 hybrid today:
They may simply trying to cope with West Ham's aerial threat while resting several players. They may also be trying to preparing for next week. It could be an attempt to deal with Suarez, Sterling and Downing while picking up the overlap of Johnson and Wisdom...
Just a thought.

Joe Cole is a c*nt, he was taking a vacation at Merseyside He performed great for Lille last season, was WC for Chelsea and had an amazing debut for West Ham. We gave him so much money yet he frakked us from behind.

Re: Rival thread
i just hate it, when someone leaves liverpool and plays better than he played for us...i watched few minutes in second half, cole's only job was to put crosses in the box, that's wat he was told to do probably!!!
but art had an interesting point, carroll-cole combo, how would it work out, is to be seen!!! i hope it wokrs out and also hope west ham gets some mid table position at the end of the season, so that they will happily buy carroll

Hopefully Yanited do us a favor and beat Spurs. And I'm praying for a draw between Arsenal and Chelsea, because I think the blues are still susceptible of dropping out of the top 4. And obviously rooting for Soton on Monday against those scrubs from across the street.

Re: Rival thread
Looking at the past 5 years, 4th spot cut off is 70 points.
So we need 35 points in the next 14 games.
It will go down this year imo, Pretty sure 65-60 will decide 4th spot this year, Looks very bleak for us.

Re: Rival thread
Not a great day for us, Bale gives Tottenham (has anyone else gotten annoyed at them being always referred to as 'Spurs'? I've gotten fed up with it for some reason) another three points, Chelsea win and so do Arsenal when Sunderland fail to score at home while being 30 minutes 11 v 10... So no breaks for us there.

Re: Rival thread
Sunderland should have at least taken a point. That was an absolutely dismal display from them.
Tottenham (that was for you, Art) really didn't deserve to win. Bale gifted them two extra points with a moment of brilliance. Newcastle deserved something from the way they played today. A point apiece would have been a better representation of the match.
Chelsea were always going to beat Wigan... They have yet to start their annual up-turn in form, and never looked to put pressure on Chelsea today.
As for the 4th spot, we would probably need to take about 70% (30 pts) of the remaining points in order to really contend for a CL spot. 5-7 is still wide open, and Europe isn't out of the question. In fairness, 4th was always goign to be a big ask this season. I think we all knew that going in...

Thanks... this is where the trend towards official names starts!!
If teams like Chelsea and Arsenal had proven to be in top shape this season, then yeah, it would've been easier to accept that the top-4 is too crowded for us this season still... But since they've all struggled and even Everton are challenging for those CL spots, I don't agree that we should look at this season's top-4 battle as something that was always going to be beyond our grasp.

Re: Rival thread
Agreed Ifthi. City are pansies ffs. I hate seeing Yanited win another league title but I hope they batter Everton tomorrow so we can catch up.
At this point I think we should just worry about getting Europe next season. Hopefully two big teams end up in the FA Cup final so the 6th spot open s up in the league for EL. Our other choice is winning the EL, which is not going to be a stroll in the park by any means.
