Okay easy run of fixtures over. Got 7 out of 9. Great Very Happy

Time to get serious.
Next 6 games

Anzhi (H),
Everton (A),
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (H),
Anzhi (2nd leg) (A)
Chelsea (A)

If we can get results from these games, It'll put us in a very strong position by Jan.
Chelsea at the bridge is the only game im a bit nervous about, If we lose any other than that, It'll be depressing.

Should defeat Swansea so that we can continue our defense of the League cup.

Two fixtures against Anzhi, 4 points from these 2 would be an amazing compared to run of fixtures we have here.

Anzhi could beat us twice if they're serious about it. Suarez will probably be rested on Thursday among the likes of Gerrard and Johnson, if Anzhi field their best players they're probably even favorites to win.

Next 4 games in Merseyside  Everton game is huge so resting players is a must.

We're 6 pts behind Everton who are 4th. So this is a direct threat to the 4th spot.

We could see a lot more quality teams in EL after the group stages. City are definitely not making past the group, so they could end up in EL. One of Milan/Zenit won't make it, one of Chelsea/Juve won't make it.

And with good teams already in the competition.
Atletico Madrid, Anzhi, Marseille, Newcastle, PSV, Napoli, Inter, Lyon, Athletic Bilbao, Lazio, Spurs, Leverkusen.

We might actually not have that big of a chance of winning after all Sad

Whilst we have underperformed in recent years, I'm sure we can give every single side you mentioned a problem. The only threat I could see would be Falcao's Ath Madrid and Inter which could go either way 50/50.

There is also either Chelsea or Juve that could be in EL so they would be difficult as well. Inter doesn't really worry me that much for some reason anymore, just like us they aren't the power house of yesteryears.

1. Liverpool - 6
2. Anzhi - 4
3. Udinese - 4
4. Young Boys - 3

One more win in the group stages should seal us a knockout stage berth. BR would do well to rest the first team for our trip to Russia. It seems pointless to me to go there in the middle of winter and try to win. Just give the youngsters the opportunity and don't even worry about the score, me thinks.

Winning vs Young boys at home is vital. That should more or less guarentee qualification.Cant see getting much from Russia in those conditions so need to play a strong defense against Udinese and get atleast a draw.Good thing is we play Young boys last so will be in a better position than Anzhi or Udinese

We actually play Udinese in Italy last so we should try to progress by then or the night in Italt could turn into a nightmare.

Tottenham 0 - 1 Wigan.
That should offer some good reflection when we play Tottenham at home and Wigan away later this month.

Fulham and Everton drawing was also good for us.

We need to capitalize on this. I was hoping for a CIty win. Let them keep pace with Yanited and win the league. There's no way we can challenge for the title, so might as well have City winning it than United.

For all the talk of our terrible start to the season, sack Rodgers, should be in the bottom three, Suarez is the only good player, blah blah blah from other teams, we are currently:

1 point ahead of Newcastle
2 points behind Tottenham
4 points behind Arsenal
8 off of West Brom in 4th

With half of our games in the league so far coming against the teams that finished above us. Only Tottenham left to play out of those 7 squads, meaning we have two games left to play against 6 of the teams from lower down in the table, including two of the three promoted sides, and only the return fixtures against Chelsea, MC, ManU, Arsenal and Newcastle. Also despite the fact that we've lost points due to the ref in at least two games, if not more.

Let's put together a good run of games here and I think we'll all be very happy/comfortable with our league standing come the January reinforcements.

I was just trying to think, the table may or may not, look like till January starts; although I am sure we will not get new striker immediately in January window. Also I am not really sure how the results will be in each game because of the unpredictability of EPL but still it was fun doing this:
The points 1,3 or 0 are written for correspondig teams written at the top of each column. I have considered only three teams, which should be our rivals according to me for the top 4 spot. Other people are welcome to edit this and make their own prediction. Probably it will be more fun then

1) Arsenal

Aston Villa v Arsenal, 3
Everton v Arsenal, 1
Arsenal v Swansea City, 3
Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion, 1
Reading v Arsenal, 3
Wigan Athletic v Arsenal, 1
Arsenal v West Ham United, 3
Arsenal v Newcastle United, 1

total= 19+16 (from above)= 35

2) Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United, 3
Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool, 1
Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur, 3
Everton v Tottenham Hotspur, 1
Tottenham Hotspur v Swansea City, 3
Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City, 3
Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur, 1

total= 17+15 (from above)= 32

3) Everton

Everton v Norwich City, 3
Everton v Arsenal, 1
Manchester City v Everton, 0
Everton v Tottenham Hotspur, 1
Stoke City v Everton, 3
West Ham United v Everton, 3
Everton v Wigan Athletic, 3
Everton v Chelsea, 1

total= 20+15 (from above)= 35

4) Liverpool
Swansea City v Liverpool 3
Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool, 1
Liverpool v Southampton, 3

West Ham United v Liverpool, 3
Liverpool v Aston Villa, 3
Liverpool v Fulham, 3
Stoke City v Liverpool, 3
Queens Park Rangers v Liverpool, 3

total= 15+ 22 (from above) = 37 confused

Like everyone one of you, I am myself wondering what exactly I have done and how I reachd to this scratch ; although it is not a crime to dream. tongue

Well in the last 18 months, I've consistently missed the big wins, and watched a lot of draws to lesser sides and losses; hell, some games even have liverpool scoring/coming back once I shut them off, or conceding as soon as I turn them on. It's felt very consistent. Case in point: turned on the QPR loss last season up 2-0 at the 75th minute. It happens every time.

Seeing as my very presence seems to curse Liverpool, maybe predictions from a distance will be acceptable to the football gods.

I would be rather surprised to see Rafa join Chelsea, after all he should know better than trying to deal with meddling owners/players again. Also, and this may be nostalgia speaking, I don't think he'd join Chelsea on principle due to their past with LFC (especially when he was here). ManCity or Spurs, sure, but not Chelsea or ManUtd.

I could, of course, be completely wrong.

I just don't know, Rafa has been out of a job for so long, it seems like he would jump at any good opportunity he has. Chelsea have some great young players he could work with. Anywhere but England Rafa por favor.
