Well, would've been too good if Chelsea had dropped points against WBA at home.
Must be frustrating for Roy, though, to have come close against ManU and Chelski and have nothing to show for it.

Own goals are usually forced from pressure attacking as with the one at WBA..It was good work by Young and was the result of a winning mentality (also referring to the "tons" of OG's that you speak of)Art Morte wrote:Ferdinand, in his current injury-prone form, isn't necessarily in United's top 2 CBs, imo.
Anyway, the red devils got a ton of own goals in their benefit last season and they started this season by winning with another one... *sigh*

Very interesting point.
Art is right. You can't compare the situations. We were sinking for many reasons, not limited to ownership, management, lack of a motivated striker, injuries, etc. Arsenal have a good (some would say great), if not stubborn, manager. They have the financial backing. They have competed for trophies recently, even if they have not won them. Unfortunately, the loss of two of their star players at once is gutting the team. With Gervinho, Song and Wilshere in the squad, one could argue that they are still a very strong side. I would contend that Arsenal's problems at the moment amount to more than the weakening of the squad. I think it's a mental problem. They have no confidence, as this saga has seemed to gut the players, the fans and even Wenger. They desperately need to spend the money raised from the sales, not simply to boost the quality of the squad, but to give the players and fans (and possibly Wenger too) the show of support and ambition that they desperately need.
That said, I personally believe the victory at the Emirates was a very important, early step towards our goals this season. Yes, it was just three points, and it is far too early to celebrate anything as a decisive point in the season. However, it was three points away at one of our major competitors for the top four. I'll certainly take that regardless of the state of the club we faced.

Dude...why is it sad ? We've got a great player instead of Mata in our team who has had 2 great games so far.
If Mata was Matting, and Downing was Downinguez, the perspectives would have been much different

I watched the first half, yeah, they're looking dangerous in attack, that City team.
Looked like they're committing more men forward than last season, too, but still managed to look very organized and effective in midfield and defence.

Yes, Matting would be even more hyped because he was English, while Prem fans would be talking about how 1-dimensional Downinguez is.Sepi wrote:Fahim89 wrote:It's all over twitter saying Mata to Chelsea is almost official . .another sad day . .

Nonsense argument that works both ways because it doesn't have any basis in fact.

hahaha . .true that!
btw i had no intention of comparing Downing with Mata but just felt Mata would have added a little more flare but now as i see Downing i would not want Mata before taking Downing . .

Re: Rival thread
Come on Sep. It's not like we're saying Mata is better than Downing and we should of signed Juan. I'm pretty sure 3/4 of the LFC fans on here would pick Downing as he'll suit us better. It's just most people here are just scared that Mata will help benefit Torres and Chelsea a lot.

Going to watch Man United v Tottenham, starting in 30 minutes - or at least as long as it's somehow interesting - here's hoping that United get a slow start at home this season...

Please be a draw.
Guys, Spurs are also our rivals for 4th place...I rather they don't win, even if they are facing United

Don't care if Spurs win i just want ManU to lose!
Spurs & Arsenal seem to be losing a lot of flare in their team. . i mean both have (almost for Spurs) lost their Midfield Maestros . . I believe 4th would be ours to lose . .
But then again Top 3 seems set! with my money on Chelsea & ManCity to share the top 2. .with their reinforcements it seems all the more likely! ! ManU a safe 3rd!

They had a decent first half, but created pretty much zero chances.
Hate to say it but United look stronger than last season if anything.

Lille are in a strong position, though, if Hazard wants to stay there and he is so young that his value won't drop at all in one season.

Well he did show some interest in Arsenal before & currently Arsenal do have the money to buy him . .& i felt that next year with a better position in the league we would have had a chance at buying him . .plus i really don't think money is an issue with our owners its more of whether or not players wanting to come to us. .
Next year would be different
