The Gazzetta dello Sport is adamant Inter have already sold Wesley Sneijder to Manchester City for €36m, so today’s Super Cup is his last appearance.

Up until now the Dutchman had been heavily linked with a bid from Manchester United, but sources in Italy suggest their rivals over at Eastlands have swooped instead.

The front page of today’s Gazzetta declares Sneijder has already agreed a transfer to Roberto Mancini’s squad for €36m – over €20m more than Inter originally paid for the midfielder.

He is set to sign a contract worth €6m per season with the Premier League outfit.

Inter director Ernesto Paolillo did hint that something could happen this week when he said, “Sneijder is not for sale unless we receive an offer we can’t refuse.”

This could well include an option to take Carlos Tevez on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

His final appearance in an Inter jersey could well be today’s Italian Super Cup against Milan in Beijing, kick-off at 13.00 UK time.


don't know why he'd choose city over united, but as long as tevez comes on loan i won't feel as bad.

This is interesting if its true, they will prob be the top 4 teams in europe if they can gell well

What about Silva? They do the same thing pretty much..

I just hope that maybe they are using City as a means to pressure United into coffing up the cash. They don't need him, they already have Silva.

Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City have not wrapped up a deal for Wesley Sneijder, contrary to reports in Italy.


Renowned publication Gazetto dello Sport suggests City have snatched the Inter midfielder from under the noses of rivals Manchester United, who have been courting the Dutchman all summer.

They believe Sneijder will feature in Inter's Italian Super Cup meeting with AC Milan in Beijing before jetting to England to sign an alleged agreement with City.

There appears to be no truth in the revelation, though, with City and United preparing to go head-to-head in Sunday's FA Community Shield.

Inter have repeatedly denied talks are being held with any Premier League club over Sneijder, and insist it will take a "non-refusable" offer to tempt them to sell.

I've learnt to take that as "this will never happen but we like to be sensational in our reporting".

Imagine if they did sign him and swapped Tevez with Eto'o!

frak stories like these. He already said hed go to united wayyy before city, and that he wasnt interested in city at all. These rumours are making me rage.
