one of the greats but he is still over-rated by people...especially when their are players who have been better examples and footballers than him over history...players like maldini, beckenbauer and muller among others...

someone who can lose his head in such a high ranking game as a WC final doesnt deserve to be mentioned with some of the class act footballers out there...if he can be called the greatest of all time then players like pirlo, xavi, ronaldinho, puyol and (brazil)ronaldo deserve alot more praise.

Like many others have said it is clear that you rarely if ever watched Zidane play. He is one of the greatest players I have ever seen, probably second just behind Ronaldo de Lima.

2 goals in a WORLD CUP FINAL, and one of the most beautiful goals ever scored in the champions league, and in the final nonetheless doesn't deserve to make him one of the greatest? He's head and shoulders above most of the rest.

Whilst I'll agree with the concept that Zidane's hype can be a bit over bearing at times, most of your posts goes against all I saw with the great man. It's your opinion but I really believe you have a general poor perception of what was Zidane.

no it's not all about statistics. i've seen xavi, iniesta and fabregas play and have seen the influence they have on the team. i've also seen zidane play and the seen the influence he has on a team. xavi and ineista have a greater influence and are 3 time champions league winners. they are also part of a team that is seriously looked at as the greatest of all time.

xavi beats fabregas because he's more experienced , a better leader and has better technique. fabregas is a better goal scorer and is faster. if there is anybody that is going to be better than xavi, it is fabregas. not exactly a ridiculous comparison.

anyway xavi beats fabregas in statistics aswell. distance covered in a match, more passes completed in matches and better passing percentage.

Lemme guess , couple of barca fans who think's zidane's not that great ? I agree he may have been over-hyped , particularly after his retirement , but the man is that great a footballer . And also , when someone comes back from retirement , leads his country to the WC , was instrumental in two against the odd victories , completely outshone Ronaldinho in the big clash , led his country to the final , he's supposed be hyped up .
