We need Vermaelen to shout down Torres.
that 3-5-2 lineup i posted in the bolton match thread is perfect. it's basically that backline but with santos in a more advanced position with walcott on the opposite side. 3 mf's in between them and two forwards, RvP and Gervinho/Park

Team News will be out in the morning on Arsenal.com
Hoping Vermaelen is not rushed into a starting role on Saturday if he is not completely fit.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Arsène Wenger has revealed the following team news ahead of the Chelsea game:
on Vermaelen's progress...
Vermaelen might be available to be in the squad. We'll have to assess him. He is not injured. He came off with a calf problem on Tuedsay in the Carling Cup. It was cramp because he has not played for a long time and he only had one training session. As I say he is not injured but he might be a little bit short for a game of that intensity.
on potentially having all his centre backs fit and available...
It is a good issue to have. I think we are defensively more solid than some time ago. In the last five or six games it is the most solid that we have looked. But no matter who plays, for me, they are all good players.
on injuries to Arsenal's young full backs...
Carl Jenkinson [knee] has a little chance to be available on Saturday. If not then maybe on Tuesday for him. Gibbs [stomach muscle] is not available.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
on Thomas Vermaelen...
We had good news about Vermaelen in the game against Bolton the other night. It was just cramp [that forced him to come off] so that's good news. He will certainly be in the squad at Chelsea. I don’t know yet whether he will start, I have to think about that. I feel physically he is not completely ready because he had problems to finish the game against Bolton, but he is close. We play two games in three days and I will have to evaluate the whole situation. But Thomas always wants to play.
on Carl Jenkinson...
I will know more [about Jenkinson's fitness] after training on Friday. Jenkinson was alright yesterday, but I don't know if I will take him or not. It depends how well he does in training today.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League clash against Marseille at Emirates Stadium.
on whether or not he will rotate his side...
I have not decided yet, I have not picked the team.
on Jenkinson and Vermaelen...
They will both be available and in the squad tomorrow. I haven't picked the team yet so I don't know [if they are fit enough to start]. Are they fit enough to play? Yes, of course.
on Marouane Chamakh...
He is injured. He has a knee problem. A slight effusion in the knee and therefore he is not even involved tomorrow.
on other team news...
Yossi Benayoun is back in the squad.

He is injured. After a certain 62 year old Frenchman was fed up with his lackluster performances and saw it fit that he "fall down some stairs" and attain a knee problem. A slight effusion in the knee to be exact and therefore he is not even involved tomorrow.
on other team news...
Yossi Benayoun is back in the squad.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Wenger on Diaby:
"You won't see him for a while, the next three weeks. He will not play for France either. I am worried but I was more worried three months ago. His ankle was not good but the surgery went very well then. Now his balance has changed so he has to adjust his muscular strength. He has had two small muscular concerns and if he can get rid of them in the next two to three weeks he will be ready. It's a good time to get him right as we have a two-week break after Saturday."

What a waste of money he was, sell him ASAP, he isn't even that good when he plays, we can get Granero and pay him with Diaby's money, atleast he'll play 2 games or 3.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of the West Brom on Saturday:
on any new injuries…
There are none, basically. We have no injuries from Tuesday night which is very positive. Apart from long-term injuries we have only Chamakh and Gibbs out at the moment. Going into November that's not too bad.
Often we have had good starts and then a little drop in November. This season we didn't have a very good start and hopefully we can go from strength to strength as we are doing at the moment.
on Marouane Chamakh...
He has a little inflammation in his knee. There is a little effusion and he will not be available for Saturday. I think he will miss the international games as well. Hopefully he should be ready again after the international break.
on Kieran Gibbs…
He is not available for Saturday as well. He is progressing normally, a bit slower than expected but there's a chance he might be available after the international break.
on Thomas Vermaelen's reaction to his game on Tuesday…
Apart from stiffness, no, there was no reaction.
