Re: El Senior - Xabi Alonso
Hey guys thought I would ask you since you guys would know more about this than me...whenever I listen to this song I see a bunch of "Xabi Alonso sent me here stuff" and I don't know where the source of all this is coming from ( I mean, what did he do an interview or did he say something to the press, social media??)
Any ideas?
Great song anyhow. My respect for Xabi Alonso (as a person, I respect him bunches as a player too) has gone up cause anybody that listens to Of Montreal is just a boss in my opinion

Re: El Senior - Xabi Alonso
I read sometime back that he didn't want to renew, he'd be 33 or so by the time his current contract is up, he wants to retire at La Real, he'd probably be joined by Arteta.

Alonso:
I think we should just let him go at the end of the season if he wants. We can get a pure DM to replace him.
The 31-year-old is rumoured to only want a new rolling 12-month contract with Real but has been offered a two-year deal which has left him in a state of indecision.
"I've no idea what will happen," World Cup, Champions League, Primera Liga and European Championship winner Alonso told Spanish media.
"I have not decided on my future. I will only stay at Real Madrid if I can offer the same level on the pitch as I can now and we will see what happens in the next few months.
"There is always a chance I could go back to the Premier League as I always enjoyed good times there."

Re: El Senior - Xabi Alonso
"I hear about everything and see the differences between what really happens and what gets published", he told Vanity Fair Magazine.
"There is no rift in the dressing room. We can’t spend all our time denying it. We are, and have to be, a team."
And Alonso, who arrived at Real Madrid from Liverpool in the summer of 2009, feels he has much to thank Mourinho for.
"He’s very good at connecting with the players and he’s always had to put up with criticism. This year has been more difficult because the team is losing more than normal.
"He’s a smart guy and one of the best managers in the world. I’m grateful to him for making me grow personally and professionally.
"Where he wins you over is in the day-to-day part, face to face. I’m talking about the manager-player relationship. I don’t know about anything else."

Apparently Alonso is more likely to renew if Mourinho stays.

I really want Xabi to stay until he retires. He can be a great example for the youngsters.

Could Khedira play a deeper role? I feel like he'd compliment Modric well, but who knows?
I don't mind Alonso not renewing nor will I mind if he leaves.

Re: El Senior - Xabi Alonso
I'm not sure Gundogan or Borja would be able to play as a DLP. Alonso kinda has defensive ability, however Borja/Gundogan would probably need a pure DM alongside them. Same with Modric.

Re: El Senior - Xabi Alonso
Alonso will most likely leave at the end of his contract, he wont be sold, maybe by that time a good alternative could have been discovered, talents like Jose Rodriguez and Alex could stake a claim for a first team position as backup to Modric. He looks like he'll be joining Sociedad, after his time here, they'll currently doing well and with Alonso they might even get better.
