Its until June 2016. 2.5 years. He has 30M buyout clause.

Re: Rafinha
He is a good player. Strong, with great dribling and workrate, good ball control and heading. However, he is lacking a bit in vision and passing. He is not a bad passing, but we are used to genius passers and creators, and unlike his brother he isn't one of them. He should receive a clinique on passing technique from Xavi and maybe the vision will develope in time, and maybe he could become a starter for us.
Him and Sergi Roberto are very similar actually in strengths and weaknesses.

Re: Rafinha
Overall Rafinha is more talented than Sergi Roberto, also younger which means more room for improvement. I think we need a player with Rafinha's physical abilities in our midfield. Unlike Deulofeu who needs one more year on loan imo, Rafinha should be back next season.
Also, you have to take into consideration that he's playing with average players at Celta compared to Barcelona.

Re: Rafinha
Unless a midfielder leaves it would be hard to develop both Rafinha and Sergi, so if it comes down to the two of them given their similarities but Rafinha's higher prospects it would be smarter to make him the new '6th midfielder'. The problem is his father, who I'm sure will try to get him to leave the club for one where he will feature more minutes. I doubt we can loan him for another reason as his value rises so much.

Re: Rafinha
We could sell Song and keep Roberto as Busquets sub and Rafinha as Iniesta sub. Still one CM surplus, but Xavi is nearing the end of his career.

I approve, though I think its only a matter of a season or 2 max before Sergi Samper "ruins" this idea.

Xavi seems to be under the impression that if he keeps playing like recently he might not have a place at Barca anymore.

Re: Rafinha
He gave that interview now but there is no way he meant it in a way that he believes he isn't up to standards anymore right now. If this were the case he'd step down now as he says he would. Doesn't make sense with his "I feel better than ever right now" comments either (although he says that everytime to calma the fans ).

Re: Rafinha
Maybe he said it because of what is currently happening to Puyol and doesn't want that to happen to him.
who knows, like i said before many legends do no retire at their club.

Xavi is one of those legends I'd like to retire at the club. I don't want to see him putting on another jersey.

Re: Rafinha
Link to this interview? So far, all I've hear from Xavi is his desire to play always, every game, every minute.
I would also like Xavi and Puyol to retire at Barça, but if their will is to play until they need a walking frame, then they will have to retire at another club as they'll always find a Qatar or a MLS club to sign them and pay still big wages after they are not good enough to start for us.
So the decision is not ours, but theirs.

Re: Rafinha
soon enough though their talent will decline to a level where they will not be useful to us, most people here don't want to see them in another jersey but i much rather see them playing then being used as a sub or barely any minutes.

It’s very difficult to play here until you retire. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it. I would like to, but I don’t know what’s going to happen. I feel I’m in good physical shape, even better than in the last two seasons.”
He also said, “I’ve never liked missing even one game and that has taken its toll on me. I now realise that I have to save myself a bit. Here in Spain when a player reaches 30 years, people insist he is past it. But sincerely, I have never felt better in my career than I do now. I feel more mature, more fit, and I am learning more than ever.”
“At the end of the day, I’m happy playing for Barcelona because of the club’s philosophy. Perhaps I’d be happy playing for another club, I don’t know, but my priority has always been Barcelona.”

Re: Rafinha
You could have had Alcantara-Alcantara for a good 8 years in midfield.
He's better than Roberto, I've been pretty sure of that for a while. He's not as great a passer as you'd think, but his ability to create space for the pass, not just with the ball, but when the ball is coming to him is remarkable. One of those players that has an idea of what he wants to do long before he actually does it.
There's still a gap between that and what he's actually capable of, but as he develops more range and consistency, he'll be great.

that's the only concern with rafinha, his passing is not great. He has everything else.

Re: Rafinha
Rafinha injury is what we feared. Anterior Crucate ligament. 6 months for recovery... he can be back towards the end of the season if everyone goes well, or next season. What a pity, poor guy. The Alcantara brothers are injury cursed.
