With Meireles there goes the only chance he had of ever starting for us before January. It's clear he hasn't been sent on loan as of yet because the club wants depth, not because he's part of the "big boys" now.

Meireles can't defend/tackle so he won't challenge Ramires.

I think Meireles acquisition will affect McEahran's chances, at least this season.
There aren't that many central midfield positions after all and I'd imagine you'll play with one DM (Mikel / Essien) anyway. I also don't believe that Lampard will be suddenly dropped, but I'm expecting a good amount of rotation - after all there are a lot of games for Chelsea.

Josh isn't an attacking midfielder like Lampard or Meireles yet. He doesn't have enough strength for it. Right now the best place for him is where Ramires plays, in CM where he doesn't needvto be attacking and can focus on dictating play more. I feel this is how AVB will use him as oppposed to Lampards role.

retention and defending is not the midfield problem, so we have to give up a few things in order to have a midfield with better creativity and passing.

I know we had a difficult, but an OK, start to this season but McEachran isn't getting enough game time. Just under 10 minutes the previous game

Capello could be right about sending him on loan this January

Unfortunately the reason why he wasn't loaned is because we got Meireles at the last minute. He lacks experience for the first team currently. He will probably go on loan in January though if his game time continues at this rate.

Yeah im pretty serious. He could do well with a loan when he is 19, cos we would still have a pretty strong midfield. But for now I would be happy if he plays 10 games, thats the minimum btw. Very Happy
