Barca warned to stop 'messing about'

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood says Barcelona have been "messing about for a year and a half" over Cesc Fabregas and that his club are now close to ending the negotiations.

"They have been messing about for a year and a half now and they have got to make up their minds," Hill-Wood told the Daily Star. "The ball is in their court. They have made one bid of around £26 million and another rather tentative one.

"If they want to buy the player they are going to have to pay the right price - and when you look at what is being paid elsewhere I don't think what we are asking is at all unreasonable."

Asked whether Arsenal are close to calling off the negotiations, Hill-Wood added: "We are getting close to that."

I dont think any Arsenal fan wants him to leave, the only good thing could come out of this would be him leaving now, and like most other Arsenal players wanting to come back after few years. Very Happy

Cesc is one of the best players in the world, he can help any team out and he is a proven player. Barcelona have to pay at least 40 million for him even that is still small amount for him.

Name some the players who are better then him? Cesc is the heart of Arsenal, everything goes through him.

True, but Barcelona dont need Cesc Fabregas i would much prefer Barca just forget it and leave Cesc to become an Arsenal legend and lead them to an EPL title victory like it's his destiny to do so Cool

True, but Barcelona dont need Cesc Fabregas i would much prefer Barca just forget it and leave Cesc to become an Arsenal legend and lead them to an EPL title victory like it's his destiny to do so

I dont know what Cesc is thinking he is the captian of big club, and wants to go and sit on the bench til Xavi retires. Xavi retiring does not even guarantee Cesc a spot, by that time things could change.

it means even though I am a madridista I really appreciate how they have gone up in power in the past 7 years. Its a case study to be learnt from. Not so long ago (10 years ago) roma and arsenal were considered clubs with the same stature as barca (exactly the same), not so much now a days. They are now clubs that emulate barca, clubs that get their best talents poached by barca and also crave barca young talent. Its truly something.

If Arsenal and Barca were the same stature 7 years ago why was it so easy to convince Overmars and Petit to jump ship?

Maybe different internal state of the clubs, going to different pastures, the dutch connection etcetera. They came together so we cant really say they statistically prove a point.

10 years ago Arsenal 12 leagues, Barca 16 leagues. Barca one UCL, Arsenal 0 Ucl. If Arsenal would have had iniesta, xavi, dinho, messi, puyol instead of barca they would have 17 leagues and 3 UCLS as compares to barcas 16 league and 1 UCL. I would def say same stature.

If not then which clubs were the same as barca in '01 and '02?
