Ronaldo showed his age just there by sloppily tracking back from an offside position and being caught far offside for the pass that arrived. Doesn't matter though, as SK's goalkeeper saved his shot anyway.

Bentacur off crying definitely not good for Uruguay, even if they make it past groups hard to see them proceeding much further

I feel like people have been viewing penalties as easy goals for ages, but it takes a lot of mental strength to score them consistently, under different circumstances and varying levels of pressure. You could have the best penalty technique in the world, but it won't matter when your body is synchronized with an impressionable mind.

It's crazy that De Arrascaeta was benched the first two matches. Alonso was way too conservative vs Uruguay and Portugal. Benching De Arrascaeta, playing Valverde so deep, and asking the team to fall back too much.

Now Uruguay will have to play Brazil in the R16 when they could have had a much easier path.

I don't think its a foregone conclusion they could've topped the group with those changes, although they would have certainly done better. They also need the balls to drop suarez.

Even on the other side of the bracket quarters was their limit

What have we learnt this WC? Never rely on other teams no matter how big they are

Uruguay went defensive once they went 2 goals up then SK scored the winner and Uruguay started attacking frantically to no avail.

Germany did the same mistake
